Volaris
Volaris is having a 50% off Airfare sale, must purchase Dec 8-14 2010. Travel dates Feb 1 2011 - June 30 2011. A couple weeks of black out dates
during Easter season. I was just about to book my airfare for a Puerto Vallarta trip in June $1169, 3 adlts,1 kid. I was lucky to see and read the
advertisement and used the promo CODES. Airfare went down to $679. Might have to get another trip to La Paz or Cabo for these prices.

Yea I sure wish they flew from the Bay Area to La Paz or Cabo...even if there was a stop in Tijuana...but they do not make it easy. If you live in San
Diego/SoCal area this is such a deal.
Enjoyed the flight from La Paz to Tijuana last month and you can't beat the price; $83 usd one way.
I also really liked the La Paz airport...so small and quaint as compared to the craziness of the Cabo airport with all their timeshare/cab/taxi folks
barking at you.

Hey Pac
Have you researched the new relationship/connections between Southwest and Volaris?
I'm pretty sure San Jose flights connect or go some place direct.
Buen Viaje!
No worries

Volaris flies from both SF and San Jose to Guadalajara. It flies from LA to Toluca. They fly to LA Paz from Guadalajara, and to Cabo from Toluca.
However, their schedule really doesn't accommodate anything close to a convenient connection.
Maybe some day.

Yes I have researched this every which way you can think of. It isn't very smooth at this point...at least I havn't found a way. The connections
aren't there...i.e. Southwest doesn't fly into Tij and Volaris doesn't fly out of San Diego. So there is no easy way to connect to Volaris from the
Bay Area unless you buy two separate tickets; Southwest from Bay Area to San Diego, do the trek to Tijuana airport then fly Volaris Tij to La Paz or
Cabo.
I even looked at flying Volaris Oak or San Jose into Guadalajara then connecting into baja sur...the connections were like overnight or 10 hours or
something like that.
Just did a google search and found an article with this snippet:
*******************************************
"Cranky: Talking about Tijuana, how much traffic do you see coming across the border from the US to fly on those Tijuana flights?
Volaris: It’s about 30%. This is a non-scientific number, it’s just from our observations at the airport, but we think it’s about 30%. Of those, 80%
are from Mexican ancestry, so they’re coming to visit friends and family.
Cranky: Are you helping people get across the border?
Volaris: Yes, absolutely. We have an alliance with Greyhound and with a Mexican bus company. You can depart from the Greyhound station in downtown San
Diego and go straight to the airport in Tijuana.
Cranky: I imagine people do this because of the lower fares and taxes?
Volaris: Oh yes. It’s about a $100 difference in taxes.
Cranky: I know you were at least planning Oakland to Tijuana. Are you looking to turn Tijuana into a connecting point for American flying to Mexico?
Volaris: Probably not. That’s mostly origin and destination traffic. For connections, we’ll use Los Angeles, Oakland, and San Jose to connect with
Southwest for now. We are developing Guadalajara and Toluca into connecting points within Mexico. Having said that, we’ll remain a low cost airline so
we won’t have a huge hub. We will create key cities with great connections, but we will still remain a low cost carrier."
******************************************
So unless Southwest decides to fly into Tij it looks like there really isn't much benefit to these two airlines code sharing.
Too bad really as Volaris is a good option, but the fact they say above that Tij is not being considered as a connection hub for U.S. folks doesn't
bode well. Good for the San Diego folks but not for us Bay Area folks.
