Speaking of Whales...
A report a few days back, that the Sea Shepard Conservation
group, the one's that relentlessly harass the Japanese Whalers
in the So. Oceans so. of New Zealand, have, at least for
the time being, apparently made it so difficult for the Whalers
to hunt, they have left the area, and headed back to Japan.
No body is claiming victory yet. But being the tree/cactus
hugger, Ocean Conservation minded person I am,
it made my day

sideswiping that longliner, 'prepare to be rammed',

Next up, try to stop the Japanese Dolphin capture/killing
for the swim with the Dolphin tourist circus
shows that are worldwide

True, It "may" have been a PR problem, but the lesson from that is to do a better job with the "covert" angle. Let's Face it, the French have never
been good with "Details". The Japanese, on the other hand .....
One thing's for sure. THOSE guys were never going to be a "Repeat" problem.

Well, I don't have a great regard for those Whales I see at Walmart, but they seem to be popular with a lot of Marines.
To each their own.
As far as the Marine Mammals go, I haven't had the opportunity to eat Whale-Meat, but I would try it at least once given the opportunity. I've heard
it tastes like Chicken.
I do believe that ANY Country has whatever rights to harvesting the sea that treaties allow, including Shamu and Flipper.
BTW, I include Flipper only because those who revere Whales seem to hold Dolphins in the same regard.

Does Walrus taste like Chicken ?
I've never met anyone who has eaten Walrus. Loco may (and likely does) travel in different circles, however, and hobnob with Walrus eaters.
It seems like everytime I read about some exotic meat, it tastes like Chicken.
Which would beg the question: Why not just eat Chicken since it's so cheap ?
Of course, it's quite possible that Whales may taste like Fish since the ones I see at Walmart probably do. Even in my worst days, I never went THAT
far so I'm assuming.

So you'd rather hunt off certain species to extinction than allow them to live for future generations? If there weren't restrictions we wouldn't have
many of the mammals and fish we have today.
Do you think that if there weren't restrictions on fishing, we'd be in a better place now? In 10-30 years?
Without proper restrictions, we would have fished out populations to extinction....

Saving Shamu from Oblivion
That's what Treaties are for. So, As long as a Balance is maintained, there shouldn't be any problems with Harvesting the Crop.
