Paying our CFE bill in Tijuana

I needed to pay my electric bill for our house in Bahia de los Angeles, so my wife and I made a day trip to Tijuana. We parked at the border and took a cab to the CFE "Rio District" office. There were over fifty people waiting in line to see the cashier. My wife spotted the automated machines in the lobby and we tried one. We had and old CFE bill with us and scanned it into the machine. We deposited two 500 peso notes into the machine and it credited our account. It was very easy. The cab driver couldn’t believe we were finished, so quickly. Then we headed for Caesar’s Restaurant.

Yes, I love those machines. They have them at the CFE in San Felipe so whenever I am down there I just go into the office and put money in my account. You can pay in advance there and then work of the "credito" to make sure that your account is always paid. I have heard that even if you are a peso short on your payment that CFE will come out and remove your meter! It happened to one of our neighbors and everything in the refridgerator spoiled! I don't want that happening to me.

Whenever I hear that rainy, chill wind blow. I think it may be time to head for Mexico. Tengo que obedecer mi corazon!

You should over pay so you have credit on file. You can also pay at oxxo which comes in handy should the machine go down. They only charge a couple of pesos for taking your pesos.

We did pay ahead on our account. We have a freezer full of fish and they turn off the power if you are one peso short! I did not know about OXXO. thanks.

They have the machines in Ensenada and they'll give you change. It's not a big deal, but that's what they do.
When will we be able to take care of these things on-line? Seems like I get a phone bill every ten days.

Are the machines out where you could use them at any time? , or only during business hours. Sounds very convenient, thanks.

Hey has anyone been getting their bill e-mailed to them from CFE?
I signed up for it a few months ago at the CFE office and haven't received a bill yet.

I signed up. I don't get my bill emailed but when I go online I can see it.

I don't know how many locations there are in Ens, but the one I do know of you would have trouble finding. I don't even know if I could adaquatly explain how to find it.
It's open during business hours as they have one rep working there along with security.
These are actually federal facilities.

I think that's as good as it gets for now. All it does is satisfy one's curiosity.

Our bill does not show our deposit balance either. We ask now and then at the office for our balance.

I pay CFE from a Bancomer peso account online. You can view the bill online on the CFE site, then go to the Bancomer site to pay it. Same for Telnor, bill is on their site and then the payment can be made from Bancomer.

So, unlike the US where it's a "pull" payment (go to the utility web site and ask them to pull the money from the bank account), in Mexico it's a "push" payment - go to the bank account and push the money to the utility.
