And a good time was had by all---at the First Annual McFeztival (Pictures)

Bajabound2005 and I traveled to San Felipe, where bb2005 was acting in "Kitchen Witches" at the el Dorado Pavilion. A more compelling reason, of course, was to attend the McFeztival at Deno's house in Ocotillos.

We stayed with Bajarob and his lovely wife, Connie. The morning of a perfect day started out beautifully:

The beach where Rob's house is located was quiet and deserted:

Our shy and retiring host was there to greet us and make us all feel comfortable (he's actually the poster child for "hail fellow, well met!"). You can recognize him by the distinctive shoes.

There were about 30 Nomads in attendance. I learned a lot of names and saw a lot of faces, but I'm not able to make the connection here; I apologize for my presenile forgetfullness.

Bajalou was there with his wife. Wornout, Lee (from "Blowin Smoke"), CDB and many other Nomads were there with significant others. Apology #2: had a little camera malfunction and didn't get pictures of everybody.

Lou was easy to identify (for a number of reasons), especially since he was wearing a nametag.

There was tons of great food; Bajarob brought along his portable barbecue to make some incredibly delicious shrimp for everybody:

Someone appears to know what he's doing:

This is Ellis; don't recall what his Nomad handle is:

This would be Bajabound2005 (pretty sure of that since I'm married to her); she got there a little late because setting up the theater took a little (lot) longer than expected:

After a raucous afternoon at McFez' a peaceful evening at Rob's:

We enjoyed another day or so with Bajarob and Connie. I think I'm speaking for all the Nomads who were at the First Annual McFeztival when I say, thanks, Deno, it was a fantastic party. I hope it does become an annual thing, but if not, I'm sure you've inspired others to think about doing it.

Thanks for the fotos, Vince. Looks like a great setting for a fiesta.
Don't understand what I'm seeing as "Rob's house." That can't all be one place, Can it?

and for you anti-bicyclists...I'm so tan from riding my bike from Bajarob's (and Connie's) to El Dorado Ranch that morning. 35 miles of headwind. Not to mention the rough road! Sorry I got to the McFest so late, I think I missed a lot! but for those few I did meet, mucho gusto!!!

Yes Rob...

... and we hope that Kristi (Elizabeth's daughter) who is always working (bio-tech research, marine biology, etc.) will finally get to see Baja with us! Josh (Kristi's brother) has been to Shell Island 3 times so far... You met him a couple years ago when we came over, after camping on the island.

Josh and his girlfriend went to Shell Island last Labor Day (without us) and his Ford Ranger got stuck by the bridge... 4WD didn't work, not enough air out of tires, etc. They camped there in the hot wind of September and Josh walked to Bahia Santa Maria for help... and one of your kind neighbors got them out! His girlfriend (Jonna) took some great photos... I will post them!

Here are some of Jonna's photos: http://forums.bajanomad.com/viewthread.php?tid=52020

Duly acknowledged, AK Ron. Good to see you.

Where did Ellis come from? Do you prefer we call you Ellis? Ellis is a nice name. Are you an immigrant? Named after Ellis Island? When the immigration agent said, "wrong"....you thought he said Ron, and the name stuck?
Just trying to figure this out.
