Do You Give a Nickname to Your Baja Dog?

I mean, something that is a play on words with the dog's official "Call" name.

For example:

"Kapoodle" (she is anything but a poodle, but I couldn't resist).

"Tiki Doll"l (and she is a doll, so eager to please).

"D Boy" (because he is Da Man).

The nicknames don't seem to confuse them. If I give them a command, I use their "real" name and they respond.

When I use their nickname, they just grin and wag their tails twice as hard.

Just a frivolous question on a Thursday before the big weekend, the "Unofficial Beginning of Summer".

And by the way, we don't have a nickname for the deaf dog, I mean, he doesn't even know his "real" name. How do you yell at a deaf dog that is up on the counter, face down in the roast?

Jan, we do, we all do. We give nicknames (not Nomad handles) to people on the board. You would NOT BELIEVE what we call you. It is way cute and ties into Gypsy.

We've got a 145 pound two year old white Labrador named "Guero" (AKC name is Hit Man Guero). He loves to be called "big boy" and comes with his whole body wagging...

We had 2 Lhasa Apsos in succession.
Both had unpronouncable names on their pedigree papers, so we let the little kids name them. And Bam Bam was their favorite.
However, the way those untrainable dogs shake their fanny when they walk, I took to naming both of them Waddles.

Dog Names

Captain (on the left), a rescue from BOLA...."Garbage Face" from his trolling the houses and garbage cans of BOLA (a habit he still has)

Libbie (on the right), "Flan Breath" from her experience of sticking her face into and eating a Costco Choco-Flan which was on the counter in a friend's (Bajabound2005) kitchen.

A pal of mine rescued an injured dog from the pound. The dog had no legs.

I asked my pal "What's the dog's name?" He said "He doesn't have a name. If I called him, he couldn't come."

A thoughtful guy I guess.

We call this guy using a rock for a pillow, "Don Tonto". Carter can be a real bone head at times, but he's not even 2 yet.

Chukar is a chukarhead. Sometimes she is a #%@$*ing chukarhead.

Bosco likes Mr "B". When he is being mean he goes by "El Vasco" (a famous old Basque outlaw)

Samatha was Miss Bones.

Thor was "ol Thordog"

We have a little mutt here at home that was rescued from Rincon, her real name is Chaparita, but I like to call her Chapa-guapa. We also have a Happydog and a Blueberry, ironic that Happy is kind of a sad critter and Blue is always happy.

My dad had a dog once that had an undescended testicle, so its nickname, naturally, was "One Nut." Then, when it started humping everything in sight, animate or otherwise, it got a new nickname (after its favorite plastic object of desire): "Humperbucket."
