FOUND! Yippee - MISSING PERSON NINA STOLAR
URGENT-URGENT-URGENT
Missing Person
Date: May 31, 2011
Name Nina Stolar,
Female, White, Slight Build, Wears Glasses
Age: 54 years old
Driving; White Ford Aerostar, Cal Lic #4CTR
Location: Hwy 1 Between Guerroero Negro and Mulege
Nina became separated approximately at approximately 2:00pm today from a two car caravan traveling south approaching Guerrero Negro. Chuck Seybert in
the lead van doubled back heading north to find her. He thinks she passed him going south and flash her lights when she recognized his van. Chuck
eventually made a u-turn and proceeded south himself but could not catch her. He described her and the white Aerostar to the people at the Guerrero
Negro check point and they said that she had passed through. Chuck proceeded south and when he arrived at the Cuesta Real RV Park Nina was not there.
Nina is an experienced world traveler and has been to Baja numerous times. She is 5’4” tall weighs 125 lbs and has brown hair and glasses.
I’m in San Jose, CA and have a flight to Loreto Thursday. I’m in an absolute panic so if you have any information or can help find my wife please call
Chuck on his Mx cell. The police and Federales have been notified but I really need help.

They spent last night with us, here in San Quintin. They left here at 8 am. At 9:30 this evening, I received a call from Chuck's wife reporting her
missing still. Please keep a look out! I have tried to call Chuck on his cell and get no answer. Please U2U me with any info!! Thanks Nomads for
the help.

Nina just called me, she is safe and sound in Santa
Rosalia. Sounds like some information not relayed correctly. She is fine!! Thanks!!!!! I love happy endings!

so....I just checked the board one last time before turning in and saw this post... I know Nina and was worried so I thought heck, I'll just try her
cell...and she answered...we had a lovely conversation...she is FINE and just stopped driving for the night in Sta.Rosalia....as her hubby instructed
her to do and she'll proceed to Mulege in the morning. So she says call off the dogs...she's just fine!!!!!
whew...glad that's cleared up...no worries.

lesson learned: people driving in convoys should have meet-up/communication plan for when separated!
sort of like having a plan of where to meet when family gets separated in big crowd at disneyland.

This is a good thought, peeps.
A question: How many Nomads carry a Mexican cellphone and have it charged up with airtime? Does your US cellphone work down here? Do you have the
phone numbers of friends and Nomads who live down here? (oh, that was 3 ??s, oh well)
Point being that Baja isn't a dangerous place but its a big place and easy to get separated or stuck in the sand (refer to Blanca's recent thread) or
have car trouble or whatever unplanned events that can mess you around and make for worry.
I do travel alone and sometimes at night even. Even tho' cellular service isn't always available I feel more secure knowing that 1. I have a charged
phone with time on it 2. someone always knows my plans for travel and is watching my back 3.in a pinch I'd always ask for help from local citizens,
tourists, the military guys at checkpoints and even the cops.
Happy everything turned out good here and Shari was able to connect with Nina. Every day in Baja's an adventure, and you can bet surprises are there
right around every curve in the road.

having a back up plan is really important. having the people you left know your plans/destination and the people who you are going to see know your
plans/destination is essential too. the unexpected happens all the time.
so glad for this HAPPY ENDING !!! a la Hollywood movie !!

Good news and quick!
Having had my butt bailed out years ago, broke down in SD with my 10yr. old son and 5yr. old g-daughter I called DK to let him know that I could'nt do
a pre-planned money rely for Keri............next thing I knew was my cell phone 'blowing up' with calls from Cabo to Ensanada with offers from
everything to sending me money to offers to drive up and pick us up, people I'd never met in person before! All because DK posted on Nomad's

good news. hand held two-way radios would have helped as well, since they apparently were pretty close to each other.

They were carrying hand helds with 22 mile range and cell phones, Telcell) but in the mountains between GN and S Rosalia, nothing was working. Once in
SR communication was restored. Disneyland type check points would have helped. alls good.

We used to carry hand-held radios, especially when caravaning. However, we stopped doing so after we heard that the army had a problem with people
carrying the radios?
True story, or false story?
I believe I read it here on nomads, which means it has to be true! Right?
