Our Wandering Baja Gal
Sara has changed her plans and has decided to remain in Oaxaca intil March
(what a deal).
I probable shouldn't say this but I believe that the love bug just may have nipped our lady ever so lightly.
"I am sitting here drinking a fresh carrot and beat juice for supper, I continue to slowly drop the weight and I am feeling real good. Today, I had
plain yogart and bran for breakfast, borrego barbacoa w/ homemade nixtamal torrtillas. When I get home, I will have another yougart with granola and
off to bed. Pretty simple eating, but it takes care of my needs. I have a tiny fridge in my room, and also I found a tiny electric water heater type
coil, so I make instant coffee in the morning and as I also bought a little radio and we have an awesome channel locally here, that plays old rock in
roll, great jazz, classic, you never know what they will come up with, (listend to japanese rock in roll this morning, what ever). Anyway, I can sit
in my room and paint, (did I tell you David gave me my first tiny streached canvas), while I drink coffee, watch the sky. and get buzzed by a nerevos
hummingbird Mom, life is good. Next step is home brewed coffee baja ranch style, (the only way to drink it, I think it is better that cappachino
even). Now, if I can create a telega, ain?t no such animal around here, but they have some awesome organic freash ground coffee, it sure would be nice
to get some brewing in my room. Ah well can't complain, I am set up pretty darn nice.
Did you receive the photo album that had my first completed niche project and a picture of a hummingbirds nest? As the nest is just below my room, if
my door is open, which it always is in the morning when I sit and draw, the Mom does a quick fly by to check on me when she is on her way into the
nest. I have tried to get pictures of her sitting with her 2 babies and also feeding but she always catches me. Ever been chewed out by a hummingbird?
Well, it is kind of a nervous little trill of a enenenenenenenene, man oh man, she can really let it go on me when she wants to, and well, you know,
of course, I get all sheepish and gosh and for sure back off for the rest of the day. I did get a picture yesterday of the tinest little beak peeping
out of the nest. I will for sure send it in my next download.
I have been with David most of the week. He went to Mexico City Sunday night for the equipment and the first hundred t'shirts, and was back at dawn on
Tuesday.
So, we are setting up shop out at Tule, and getting ready to hopefully start print next week on the "Remembering Baja" design that I did way back in
the 90's of the little bird sitting on the cactus. I couldn't make up my mind for sure which of my pieces to begin with, and went to bed the other
night thinking that bird was it, and dreament on it for the rest of the night, so for sure that is where my heart tells me I should start, so we will.
Of course, I will send you a picture as soon as we have something printed.
Also, just about finished my first comal painting today, course you know the closer you are to completion, the more details pop up to attack. Same
with the tiny canavas, see tomorrow morning if I can't call it quits on that one.
David and I will go back to Tlcaclola to the market on Sunday to pick up another dozen of the medium size comals to continue painting on. I have more
pictures to take to the potters, also a copy of that silly one I took of the Saint keeper and me peeking out from behind the candles, you did get that
one didn't you?
I have one page left on my drawing pad, and as soon as I finish that I will take pictures and send you the album, as I said before, I think the August
batch is better than July was. Time to buy a new book, although with the painting projects and the silkscreen in the works, I don't have the time to
draw that I did before.
The last two chapters of the story have been honed and reviewed a couple of times now. As this piece is about Don Fedirico Flores, the greatest artist
in the Jardin and surly one of Oaxaca's best yet, I just don't even feel that my words are worthy to describe him, so, I keep putting it away,
wondering how I could even begin to do him and his art justice with my too simple words.
Well, like I said before Bernie, I hope all is well with you. Please know, you and LuAnn continue this journey in my heart with me, as always, much
Love, Sara"
Looks like she may return to Baja with some T-Shirts that we all will wish to purchase.

It's nice to have time to see the small things and pay them attention, a bird, a tiny mouse, things many of us don't take or have the time for on a
daily basis. It's even more meaningful wher experiencing new things with fresh friends. In gearing up for a trip to Bahia de Los Angeles, I'm
preparing for handling that "extra" time, those longer hours and days away from the city fritter.
Do we know what story Sara is talking about?

We hope her trip will result in a book of her observations and experiances in Oaxaca. If it happens it could be a great one.
