BORDER CROSSING ON LABOR DAY

Did anyone do the border back to the states yesterday? Just wondering how big a nightmare it was as it may be another indication as to the recovering tourist industry......or not.

I happen to look at the Border Wait site yesterday
Labor day, I'm thinking about walking over this Sat.
to TJ just to stroll around Revo,
about 2 pm the pedestrian line was REPORTED to be 1 1/2 hr., vehicle 1 hr. 20 min., sounds a little weak on the
vehicle line to me. I listen to the San Diego sports radio
station, they have Border Crossing Wait Times, often
mid week afternoon it is close to 2 hrs., I wouldn't bet it is often
longer on weekdays due to the daily crossers than
even on Weekend days

The US Border Wait Times site is grossly inaccurate....almost always. They just stay true to form and refuse to be helpful.

We crossed at Otay yesterday at about 3:30pm. 20 minutes in the Sentri line. The pedestrian line looked pretty short too.

El Mexicano reported a 4 hour wait at SY yesterday. The article attempts to place partial blame on 3 lanes being closed.

Will a somewhat accurate wait time ever be published? Surely the technology is available.

I doubt it, Doc. Bad guys will use anything to gain an edge. ICE knows that and couldn't care less how misinformation screws up the traveling public.

Crossed San Ysidro yesterday about 5pm. Thank goodness for Sentri...took us only only about 20 minutes. Looked like close to 2-2 1/2 hr wait in regular lanes but it was the walking lane that looked the worse, I would say 2-3 hrs at least

True, Dennis. My fault for thinking I was a U.S. taxpayer expecting representation.

Lucky me, I've got my SD trips down to "grape juice" shopping every 2 months or so.

That's a long wait indeed...with he heat and kids. Longest I ever done was 2 hours...and that was pure Hell.

If it counts, I crossed at Calexico East and with SENTRI, Zero wait. On standard crossing, I would estimate at about 45 minutes at 2pm.

That isn't bad for that day and time. Had Monday not been a holiday, you would probably have said goodbye to twice that time.

My worst mistake some months back was to drive a stick shift auto back . The constant effort of working the clutch pedal for 2 hours in the line left me with black and blue discolorations on my left foot! Ouch!!

I crossed at the old gate in Mexicali yesterday at about 8:30 am. The crossing time was only about 20 minutes (NOT in the Sentri Lane). It was the shortest wait that we've ever had...maybe because we left San Felipe early in the morning.

Bajabound2005 and I did Bike the Bay wearing our red Punta Banda Bike Club shirts; three other friends from PB did it, too.

Thanks, Matt. The PB Bicycle Club's energy and endurance have shamed me into retirement. They are mighty road warriors.

Perhaps we need a taco smackdown at Lucha Libre in SD?

Hope you and yours are cooling off during this quickie warm streak.
