Softball Equipment? Still Needed
OK, file this under begging, or, oh no, more requests for goodies, or maybe, I donate everywhere else please no more, or oh no, I am tapped out!
Or, file this under hey, I no longer have a use for that glove and someone else needs it.
Last year Bahia Asuncion created their first girl's softball team. They earned enough endorsements for uniforms, but they really need equipment. Any
used equipment will be greatly appreciated---gloves, balls, catcher equipment, bats, bags, etc. They have been borrowing some things from the boy's
teams.
We cannot transport as much as in the past as we no longer have a truck, but we will take what we can. U2u us. Or if you are headed that way and do
happen to have something for the team, please take it to Jamie Morales V. and Elide Arce A. or to the Ed and Jean at the New Bahia Asuncion B & B.
Or, you can drop something off at Rodriquez Secunda just south of the first Pemex station (going south) in Vizcaino. Just ask for Raul, who speaks
English, and tell him it is for John and Diana in BA. Let us know if you are going to leave something there.
Thanks.

Whimper...sob....feelingsoverysorryformyself.
I have a dear old glove and ball or two that I can send your way if someone is passing through San Juanico.

We will work on that. I understand as I used to play and I coached a girl's team once----very painful these days.

CP, WHAT, NO SENIOR SOFTBALL OVER THERE???
We have a few 70+ year olds playing in a league I started over here in Sonora. It just takes a little creative adjustment of the rules to allow pinch
runners and such. So, dont give it up just yet. I often wonder why I have not heard of more gringo softball leagues on the Mexico boards. Ours is
wildly popular over here. It's pretty non-competitive, to say the least. But it is now attracting pretty large crowds of significant otters as spectators. It is co-ed and we have some very capable women who played softball
growing up.
Surprisingly, many of the players are Canadian. I often ask them how they came to know the game so well, given the weather allows them to play only
one month.
Diane, what is the age group of the girls, so I can get an idea of the sizes? I do have some complete catchers outfits, a few bats and lots of balls.
But most of it is for Little Leaguers size.
Getting them there might not be that big of a problem as I am "acquainted' with a captain of the ferry between Guaymas and SR. He's family with the
owner of our favorite restaurant in San Carlos. So, maybe someone can meet the ferry on the your side to accept the stuff.
Just thinking out loud, really, on the logistics of getting it there.......................

Hey Hook! I am not 50 yet!!!
It is not the availibility that keeps me from the game, I could always play with the kids. But it is all the old injuries that I 'played through' and
never fully healed. Gotta hold it together now that I am not surrounded by sports med clinics. My risk analysis department says no more softball
since I am unable to restrain myself when going for the play. Small
price to play for living in paradise at my age!!!
Geez, I just found my dear glove. Its a bit older than I remembered. Not sure if the girls will want it but I will send it on up.

Hi,
The girls are 13-15 and at that age, their sizes vary A LOT. If somethings could be sent by ferry, picking them up should not be a problem. If not
us, we have friends who go back and forth from BA to that area on a regular basis.
Thanks and we hope it works out.

I have some stuff that I would be willing to donate but I am NOB and will be for some time. Anyone headed south that I could UPS some softball stuff
to?
In the picture, are the uniforms royal blue or purple? I could probably get some visors done for the girls as most softball teams NOB use visors and
not caps, just a thought.
Coached my daughters for a long time and went through all of the club softball stuff here in Orange County and oldest daughter got a full ride to play
softball back east. She is all done now.

We heard that the Bahia Asuncion Bravas won their game today---I believe it was against La Bocana (sorry Blanca-- )
Wish we had been there to watch! Still hoping someone has some equipment sitting around gathering dust that they would like to get out of their way.
