Ave Internacional/TJ CLOSED

From Frontera today, beginning today, Ave Internacional(from border crossing toward TJ Playas) will be closed 3-4 months of construction/repaving?

Should be fun. Anyone crossing today?

I had heard they were gonna double deck the road to make it quicker and more direct for tourists to just haul ass thru TJ to the first toll booth. I read that a few years ago in the SD paper.

If going to Rosarito and close there...cross at Otay and take Corridor 2000 south.
If you still want to cross at SY, keep going on the right lanes and they will take you past the COSTCO. Drive another 1/2 mile to the McDonalds and make a right. Stay on the main road and follow the main traffic. This will take you to the North End of Rosarito.
From there you may go anywhere you wish.:bounce:

You know, I don't get it. Many of the construction workers in Mexico work at a snail's pace but you get the same workers and put them to work in the State's and they are some of the hardest, fastest workers around. What's up with that?

In the US, they get paid by the hour. In Mexico, they get paid by the job!

This photo is this morning- from Playas to downtown TJ. Not good to say the least. We need to get to to San Diego from Rosarito this afternoon- but will take the 5&10 all the way.

I'm not sure the current construction has anything to do with the double-decker toll road project. They'll probably finish doing what they are doing and then tear it all up again. Seems that is what they do on the toll road all the time.

The closure is only going towards the border, the way back is open. Actually at 5pm both directions were open (go figure). Wait was only 3 hours. Took the 5&10 all the way from Rosarito to Zona Rio in TJ and got in line right at the mall (a block before the CostCo).
