Emergency in Baja

I apologize to those who were trying to contribute to this thread in a positive way but there is no room for added drama in a thread like this. I hope those that felt it necessary can somehow control themselves on this one.

There is an 11 year old boy in need of probable heart surgery in San Bartolo. His family is very well respected but they have no money. They are friends of mine and I care a lot about them.
I have been looking into all possibilities and received a lot of input which was very helpful. It was quite complicated as to whether he would go to the states with Shriners, Mexico City, or stay in the La Paz area.
It would appear that Sr. Tucker has offered to take the family to see the doctor and pay for the trip and doctor visit. This is wonderful news and I hope it happens soon.
In the mean time, I am still looking into how the surgery will be paid for , whether they are eligible for IMSS insurance, and if there are any specialists that are available in Baja or whether he needs to go to the mainland or not.
Everything is waiting for the examination to happen before anything can be decided. People have said they sent donations and if anyone else is interested in contributing, please U2U me.
Hopefully, Tucker or those who are down south will be able to set up an account for these people for their travel, lodging, and medical expenses in the near future if that is what is necessary.

Here's the latest

Hola mi amigo
Hope you're traveling safely and probably have now arrived wherever it is you are supposed to be at. Great pictures posted, you're getting to be good.

Regarding Aaron;
I have spoken at length with Guicha and Chuy and they are quite willing, eager and ready to accept whatever help comes along to deal with this.

IF money is donated it should, by their choice, go into my bank account so it's easy to retrieve, after all i am family.
And right now, haha, i don't have my check book witjh me so all those eager donators have to wait until i get it.

Doctor in Ciudad de Constitucion: do YOU have name?? phone number?? address?? so they can directly communicate with him.
Have YOU communicated with him??
Did he mention donating his fees for this??

Do you KNOW how much in gas it is to C.C.?? as you drive it quite regularly.
Do you happen to know of any place to stay there???
They are trying to figure out how much it will COST to go there, to C.C that is.
Hopefully people can/will donate those costs otherwise they can not go as they don't have it.

Aaron is OK. Weak but not like he was a week ago, bedridden and hardly eating. Of course the more often this happens the more it affects him and longer.

Guicha is very nervous about this all because she is afraid of an operation but Chuy is quite eager to find out what is what as are the boys, they are totally eager for this, something to happen for Aaron.

I have sent all the information directly to the family and Bedo. Now he just needs to get to the hospital and see what's going on before any decisions are made. I hope that happens soon as with my being in Rosarito, it is quite difficult to do the transporting needed.
Then we will know what is needed and hopefully where to send it:light:
I've been trying to get Tucker to meet that family for a long time. I have to give him credit to take all this upon himself never having met them before.
Natalie Ann as well, although she has even met Aaron and the rest of them. These are awesome human beings that need our help.
I will keep you posted as I hear and hopefully we will have some news from a doctor soon. Perhaps Tucker or Natalie will have some information sooner than I so we are looking forward to hearing anything.

Thanks everyone

who have already responded to this child in need. Hopefully, Tucker will get him to the hospital for an examination/evaluation so we know exactly what is in store for this little trooper.
I just gave him a cool bike that belonged to my daughter and I want to see him back on it. This is good stuff !

And meet Aaron folks. This was about 3 months ago.

Back to square one

We seem to have lost out on a substantial amount of help from the La Paz area as far as rides and Dr's fees, etc.
This means, we need all the help we can get for the family to deal with getting up there themselves and a place to stay.
Many of you have come through for this family and thanks very very much.
Again, please U2U me if you are able to help this family.

Not back to square one.......

I am donating $1500 pesos to these people to use as they see fit. That will cover transport and doctors initial visit. I don't want them to feel as if they are dogs being taken to the vet.

Very considerate of you.

And thanks very much for what you are doing. Luis is supposed to call later if you need an interpreter to deal with the family. He knows Aaron and the folks from when I took him there last year. He will be willing to help. Should I give him your phone number ?

He has my number....

No need for an interpreter, the money will be handed to them without fanfare, without me present.

Where it started

although it is ok to publicly post what you are donating to this little boy, the majority of people handle it discreetly through U2U or email.
First notification:

Hola JR
sorry to hear about your continuing car problems. Natalie and i are having a great time and will come to La Paz Monday???
I told Chuy about the bamboo and he's fine with it, hjas it in water and wants to plant it?
They are not fine.
Aaron, who has had heartproblems before, all his life, is very weak, listless, doesn't play or eat, tires too quickly.
Next week sometime when they have the money, the eternal hang-up or too many of us, they'll go to La Paz again to consult a doctor. They have done that before and the outcome was then:
They need surgery for him which they cannot get in Baja.
They also have no insurance.
Any chance that you could put this on your Board"nd see if you can get some support for this kid??? You can put his picture on any appeal should you think that that would be helpful, they have already said that it would be OK.
Guicha is real down and depressed. Not only does Aaron have a serious heart problem, now has colitis also which is temporary but a symptom of stress and tension.
I don't know if this is the kind of thing that is dealt on the board but it seems to me to be perfect for that audience.
We'll probably be here until Monday morning, then La Paz??? Who knows, i have no idea what Natalie wnats to do. She did not go up to my place especially after hearing the ant incident.
Drive safely, Bedo

2nd notification:

Information on Aaron, who looks very wan and is very low energy and YOU know that is not him!!!

Aaron Guadalupe Rochin Lucero
Born: 19 Octubre 1992, so right now he is 11 though will be 12 in a few weeks.
Parents' names:
Jesus Rochin Pinuelas
Maria Luisa Lucero Lucero
Rancho el Bainaro, San Bartolo, BCS

The doctor and hospital etc.:
Sr.Dr. A. Carlos Estrada Ruibal
Gabinete de Radiolgia
N.Bravo No:1440-1. Col Guerrero
telefono: 112-2-72-52, Fax: 2-94-64

I also have the x rays should anyone want them.
Do you have a good picture of Aaron?? Natalie has one but i don't know whether she can put it on the computer, talk with her because i agree that a "
"picture is worth a 1000 words".

3rd notification:

Javier never hit, not even much wanted rain. The mosquitos, unbeliveable everywhere else, are NOT on the mountain, YESSSS!!!!
Be well, drive safely, stay in touch, let me know what is what with your gathering help for Aaron and where to go fom here.

I am still waiting to hear from Dr. Habif as well as Sergio, Aarons brother regarding setting up a bank account for them to transfer funds.

Hopefully, something is being done about getting him to the doctor.

hopefully, the people down south are somehow getting him to a hospital. We are now aware of specialists in Hermosillo if nothing is being done down there. Also an offer of lodging there as well.
This is great stuff. I will now make some calls to see what is being done down there. Thanks everyone.

I disagree..............

I suggest that anyone who donates should post the amount, less chance for hanky-panky with the money that way. There are $2000 donated pesos in the hands of the Rochin family right now.

This whole thing is just a scam. Good thing you came to the rescue.
Has he seen a doctor yet as you mentioned you were taking him in your first abusive post ?
You are awesome dude. When is he going to see a doctor ?

The latest

and hopefully, what you have done is enough. But just in case, we will continue working on this problem.
This is the news from San Bartolo this afternoon.

"OK here's the deal from here:
Later this week, either Thursday or Friday Aaron is going to La Paz to get an updated exam.
As soon as we have a report on that i'll let you know.
It's wonderful all the help and promised assistance that you are gathering for them, they, and i, are quite grateful and impressed.
I have NO idea of what is transpiring between you and certain others and frankly, i don't care.
All i am interested in is to get Aaron the best fastest help he can get and i do NOT care who does that. He is family and i have known him for a long time.
By the way: this is NOT an emergency at this point but it IS something that needs to be taken care off, a hole in the the heart does not go away on it's own.
Please stay in touch on what is happening on your end since we both are working on it. It is best for all if we know what is going on so we can co-ordinate our effort and not spin wheels.
AND......to facilate that effort i'll try to keep my phone charged up, sorry about that!!!!
Be well, stay centered and in touch, Bedo"

Translation...

I need you to explain more of the details and facts about the business with the bank so I know how I'm going to do this because I don't understand very well. I will wait here for your answer, and thanks for everything, Jaime.

I also need you to help me find a calculator model hp-g47max. Something like that costs about 130 dollars but I don't have money right now. But if you could obtain it, I will work to pay you back.

I hope I receive your answer soon. I'm a little sick and that is why I have not been able to check my mail.

Second message:

What info needed?
Tell me the info that you want so that I can respond because Bedo was going to send the info Saturday but I don't know what happened.

But, instead, I didn't receive anything.

I'll wait here for your answer.

Thanks,

Sergio

Thanks Herb

Not only that, someone is getting him the calculator. Most of you are awesome humans.
Sergio, Aaron's brother goes to college in La Paz. He is the closest family member to Aaron out of 2 more brothers and a sister.
He has big plans for his future and is doing exceedingly well in school.
I have been taking him down computer things for school for a while now which is why he asked about the calculator.
