Random thoughts
Just finished writing this one and thought I would throw it out there and see what you guys and gals think.
Baja
A place easily visited but a land impossible to forget. You may walk away but you can never leave. A part of you will always be there and her spirit
will reside forever in your soul. Try as you might you will never be able to cast her out of your heart.
Understand that you might just as well let her sun warm you as her winds blow the worries from your mind. Allow her waters to caress your feet and
soothe your soul. Allow her people to call you friend and bring a smile to your face.
A mistress that may never be forsaken—no matter how hard you may try. Whatever you do will not matter for she will forever ride upon your shoulder
and whisper in your ear.

I feel fortunate to live 70 mi. from the Baja border,
1st went down surfing in '72, somewhere along the line
it becomes part of who you are, part of your persona.
Some have a couple yrs. Baja experience to draw on,
others have 50. Can't imagine not having that
escape hatch

Just came back from driving 1,888.8 miles in the promised land over two weeks...Only got stuck three time,,,but made a dozen of new friends.
Bola to Acencion to Mulege to Lorato, back to Santa Rosila then to San Ignacio and over to Bahia de Torguiga (spell--tired) then back to San
Quintin...then over the hill and into the mine fields of the new road construction the day after a heavy rain...some of the pothiles would have
doubled as Olympic pools.
In San Ignacio we spent the night in Casa Renee, Jaunita, in the room that Don Jimmy Smith wrote most of his book.
Yeah! Still in love with the lady...and always will be.
Heading down to Cabo for a week next Saturday.
What can I say...Baja (life) is good.

Tell Christine and Larry Hi from Jaime and I...great folks and one of the highlights of the trip was wandering through a desert with them and Shari
and Juan looking for, and eating that cactus fruit that I can never say nor spell. A cross between a Kiwi, a strawberry and a bit of watermelon.
Slurping good!
Tell Larry that Jaime bought one of Jaunita's books, "THE VOICES OF SAN IGNACIO", for my birthday....A fantastic read as Larry said it would be.

PITAYA is the easiest spelling and what the Baja Plant Field Guide uses... an H is sometimes used in the spelling: PITAHAYA.
