Corona -vs- Pacifico?

My favorite beer in Baja is Pacifico. BUT, for those of us who dispise Corona, have you tried Corona Familiar? Very good beer in a large bottle!!

Give me your take on this!

Wow, that is a new one, for me--------I will look for it--------wonder if it is available in the USA????

I remain a Negra Modelo fan when in Baja, or up here for that matter. :)

I really like Dos Equis Amber but it seems to be very scarce in Baja. My beer of choice is Pacifico but Tecate is good also. It seems as I travel the lenght of the peninsula different regions seem to prefer Pacifico and it is more readliy available, while the opposite is true in other areas where they prefer Tecate however I really don't see Corona dominating anywhere accept high traffic tourist areas.

If you really like beer, you must try it for sure. You can find it at most small outlets that sell beer. I stumbled upon this and just love the taste of this beer.

I'm partial to Indio myself, but definitely the best Mexican beer is Bohemia.

I think it will be very good as it is in a dark bottle, Corona in a can is good, no skunkyness. Clear bottle corona is pretty skunky.

"The flavor of Corona is complimented with a slice of fresh lime."

They would do themselves a favor by avoiding statements such as this. A good beer will stand on it's own merits.

This package has, to my recollection, been around for a long time, and like it's little brother, Corona in the small grenade style bottles, has little to no resemblence to the Urine in the clear glass bottle. The dark glass products are quite tolerable...for me anyway.

I was reluctant to buy the Corona Familiar, but a close friend of mine encouraged me. I was very pleasantly surprised how good this beer is! Actually, it shocked me.

If I have to add a lime to make it drinkable I think I'll pass

Has anyone noticed the Corona commercials? It the States they depict tropical scenes on a secluded beach. In Mexico they are in somewhere that resembles the Swiss Alps.

Negra modelo or Dos equis Amber if I can find it are my favorites. Bohemia is nice for a change and if neither of tose previous are available, Indio will do.

Fool me once shame on me...

Corona Extra and Familiar are exactly the same beer. Only difference is that Familiar, packaged in a brown bottle, tends not to skunk up as fast.

(short story from the past about Pacifico & Corona)...

When the old Hotel Mulege (Club Aero) was still open many moons ago, I was sucking down a cool Pacifico when I noticed it had a cloudy appearance..and different taste. I looked at the bottle closely. Carumba...there was a decomposing mouse floating in it.

Most the beer was spit out on the bartender, Luis, as I sputtered..

"Damn, Luis..there's a mouse in my beer!"

He holds my bottle up the light, sees the mouse, and hands it back with a causual smiile,

"No charge for the soup, Rogelio."

I had to stay off Pacifico for 2-3 years, and was forced to drink the crappy, but clear-bottled, Corona. Thank Odin I'm okay with Pacifico again.

On Tecate...I can't drink any more Tecate since I got rusted-can poisoning in the 60's.
