Recently we spent a week camping with our visiting daughter and grand daughter. Nice time of year to be out there, reminds me of Baja.

campsite just before sunrise

lots of water if you know where to go

the shade of Palm Canyon Grove is a good spot for lunch

Ken-----------Beautiful shots, which Borrego always provides.

Your last shot "looking towards Baja"-------where was that taken from?----the Truckhaven Rocks perhaps?? or Fonts Point??

Barry,

It was taken from Font's Point. I have to take all first timers there, in this case it was our grand daughter.

Palm Canyon Grove! Great place, and a great shot. We always hike over there when camping at Bow Willow, a nostalgic place for us, as it was our first experience of the Southwest Desert after moving out here from the East Coast.

I was camping across the sea from you Thurs. night. Nobody likes the Salton Sea, but I sure do! It didn`t even smell like rotten fish this time. And there`s Salvation Mt., Slab City, hot springs, bloop bloop mud pots, White Pelicans, fields of Snow Geese, Bombay Beach, Niland Marina, some low flying military jets, and geocaches!
Beautiful night Thurs., the Sea was glass calm about 76 degrees. It is a bit disarming when you figure out the beautiful white sand, isn`t sand but dried Talipia bones (BTW I threw a few dried up Talipia on my fire and discovered a new source of firewood). :)
Borrego looks beautiful, maybe next week! Thanks for your pics!

Roberto,

The Palm Canyon we were at is the one by the Borrego Springs visitor's center and campground. The one by Bow Willow is Mountain Palm Canyon, might that be the one you have been to?

I have camped in Mtn Palm canyon and Bow Willow many times and they are great locations. There is a nice hike from the south palm grove over to the north palm grove in Mtn Palm Canyon, have you done that hike?

You've probably answered this question a million times, but what camera do you have?

Nevermind, Nikon D7000? Nice! :)

Yeah, looking at the map, that's the one I was referring to, Mountain Palm Grove/Canyon. And I've done that hike from Bow Willow to Mountain Palm to Southwest Grove and back. It's beautiful country. ANd when you read about the stories on Bow Willow, and the Indian population in that area, in that bowl, with the arroyo and the Willows, very evocative - magical.

Thanks for reminding me.

Try the hike from the Visitors Center into Palm Grove (4miles rt). There were water falls at the grove over Thanksgiving.
