Saskatoon woman recounts Mexican vacation horror story

A Saskatoon woman back from a recent trip to Mexico is going public with what she is calling a ‘nightmare’ vacation.
Tanis Macala was recently in Mexico not only for a vacation, but to be the maid of honour at her friend’s wedding.
Macala says it was during her second night at a five-star resort when the fun ended for her and her friends.
“He walked into my room, took off his vest, his name tag, his radio.”
The “he “ Macala was referring to was a staff employee. She had answered her door thinking it was room service after falling asleep after failing to
get hold of room service earlier in the evening.
“He approached me, started grabbing me, groping me, touching me.”
Macala says she then grabbed his radio and the staff member grabbed his belongings and fled her room.
That wasn’t the end of the nightmare for Macala.
The next night, she says the same staff employee called her, saying he was coming to her room.
“I ran as fast as I could to where I knew my friends were.”
Macala says when they reported the incident, hotel management refused to believe their story.
There are ways people can protect themselves.
Always be aware of your surroundings, maintain proper posture, avoid distractions such as texting and walk with a partner if possible, say
self-defense instructor Kris Kembel.
He says learning basic self-defense training where techniques such as hitting an attacker with an open palm can be beneficial.
“No matter what you were doing at the time you were assaulted, it is not your fault,” said Kembel.
“The only person who can prevent an assault is the person committing the assault.”

Whew! that's a relief, I always feel so dirty afterwards.

Old people are like the old cars, made of some tough stuff. May show a little rust, but good as gold on the inside.
