Carnaval in La Paz starts today

Just a reminder, today's the first day of the Carnaval in La Paz. The malecon is closed to traffic and it's best to avoid the first couple of blocks up from the waterfront, as well.

Things usually get going at around sunset, so if you have nothing to do, come on down and check it out.

Next Tuesday will be the last day for this annual event.

The carnaval doesn't usually impact government offices, to my knowledge.

I believe the parade is a nightly event, not just for the weekends.

Are parades still the only thing in La Pa that ever start on time?

Lots of things start on time around here, Mom. The secret is to be late for things; damn if just about every time I do that whatever it is starts on time.

Parades are Sunday, Monday, Tuesday. Sunday from Marquez de Leon to Molinito, Monday from Molinito to Marquez de Leon, Tuesday from Marquez de Leon to Molinito. This is from the official Carnaval schedule. Carnaval started today, Abasolo closed during evening/nights for booths, bands, etc. Cold and windy, wear warm clothes.

Thanks for clarifying that, Jack. Accuracy is everything.
