Dish Network To Introduce New Whole-Home DVR Concept

Introduced at the 2012 Consumer Electronics Show, this month Dish Network will begin shipping their latest receiver advance, a single HD DVR box with three built-in HD satellite TV tuners called "The Hopper." The Hopper can supply up to three remote HD "Joey" receivers for a total of 4 TVs with independent program access. The 2-terrabyte DVR hard drive is shared among all the Joeys, allowing you to move from room to room and access the same DVR content from all locations.

Sometime later this year, Dish Network will permit up to two Hoppers on a single account. The Hoppers will be networked together. For now, just 1 Hopper is allowed per account. Initially, the Joeys may also be limited to 1 or 2 per household.
