Yup...Hoa Lo Prison, Hanoi. The fiery furnace. Home to John McCain for a while as a POW.



Now, Marc.. guess where you are in this 2012 photo? Hint: We are not in Hanoi.

Yep! The Hanoi Hilton. I was told picture taking was not allowed along this street where the only entrance to the compound is located, and cars were not allowed to stop. I gave our guide (watchdog) $20 and jumped out for just enough time to take the picture.
The prison has since been torn down except for this portal and a small museum. Times do change.
This is what it looks like now. (image off of the net)

I should do a full report on this trip. Truly amazing. At that time very few Americans were going to this part of Vietnam.
