End of an era
At the close of business on April 17th, 2012 Mc Lulu's will lock the gate for the last time. This will mark the end of a 27 year era for Loreto, BCS.
Business has been way off for several years now. Maria's kids are adults, have finished school, have kids of their own, and she has had enough of
work. She's a dear. I've always been more fond of her than of her tacos. Better go by for your last batch soon, but you don't have to say goodbye to
Maria; she will remain a part of the Loreto community.
Certainty is the child of ignorance, knowledge is the mother of doubt. Question everything!

I just love the woman. This picture was taken in the middle of a conversation with my wife about how Maria had left her boyfriend in a an explosion in
the middle of a menopausal hot flash. I laughed so hard I nearly pee'd myself!

Would love to have a fish taco one last time, but I won't make it there in time. RIP Mc LuLu's. I even named my dog Lu Lu. Do those cruise ship
zombie's still pile into town there?
Bummer.

It's confirmed, tomorrow is the last day
Taked to "Mama" today and she said manana is in fact her last day. She laughed and said NO when I suggested that she will miss it and be back in 3
months.
Anyway, who wants to meet us there tomorrow, Tuesday, 4/17 for lunch for a farewell to her?
12:00 - 1:00?
Let me know,
Howard

Howard, I posted your invitation in the Baja Events forum, hoping for a big turnout! AS there is no McLuLu or Loreto in the title of this thread, I
feared it may be missed by potential well wishers/ taco eaters tomorrow!

Dang, she should go out with a bang and stay open through the NORRA party in town on the 30th.
I havent been to McLulu's since about '94. I thought it was the best taco in town at the time.

Wife and I stopped in for lunch yesterday on our way south. Pinto bass fish tacos were as good as ever! I told LuLu that I thought she would close
three months for vacation and would re-open again. She said "no way." I reminded her that's what she said two years ago when she "closed for good"
and then re-opened across the street. Lourdes just laughed and gave me directions to her house in Miramar neighborhood. She said to just stop by for
lunch anytime I was passing through town.
So, what's the next best tacos in Loreto? We do not care for Tacos El Rey. How about a good taqco stand in either Insurgentes or Mulege as an
alternative?

I'll miss her too. I stopped in there last November and I was her only customer, so we chatted while I ate my tacos. She said she used to sell
300-400 tacos a day - now she was lucky to sell maybe 20 a day. She told me she has 5 children, all grown now and successful, and 7 grandkids. I
had a bag of dates from San Ignacio and I gave her a handful, and I can still hear her voice saying 'mmm muy rico . . . un regalo de Dios'.
