CONCHAS Y VINO NUEVO EVENT, ENSENADA
The event was well attended both by locals as well as Nomads from all over the area.
My wife Jana and I went with the intent to try a large variety of wines (there were 43 vineyards in attendance). And since this was our first such
event, we were gorged out wit food by the time we were half way down the booths. It appears there were about 25 different local eateries supplying
"TAPAS" sized bites.
Amazing the variety of preparation of mussels. The mussel was unmistakable there, but how it was prepared made a huge difference. The same thing with
oysters...lots of different oyster-growing regions were represented, and each regional oyster had a slightly different flavor when eaten raw. Many
were prepared with a variety of sauces, but raw were the best.
In the middle of the pavilion was a lecture on how to cultivate oysters from a little smidgen to adulthood. They also offered the snazziest shirts,
hats, mugs, etc.
The entry into the event was reasonably priced at $30.00 (U.S.) per person.

I am posting only one so far, since I can't figger out what is happening with my flawless PHOTOBUCKET.
 
Below is the oyster culture school. Explained everything from a sand grain to adulthood. They had hats, mugs and T-shirts available...cool stuff.

Yes, Doc...
we had reservations at Hacienda Guadalupe, and they could not find them.
SOOO...
they put us up at CASA NATALIE, in El Sauzal, just a little north of Ensenada.
REALLY a nice place...nice to see how some of the other people live. Food and service were OUTSTANDING. Personal chef and everything.
The tequila bottle in the room did not go with the room, but it sure was outstanding! It was called Tequila El Agave Artesanàl. Never seen it at a
store, and it was not inexpensive.
We got to spend some time with Robbie Gordon and his entourage.

Great to see you and Jana having a good time in Baja!!! but I wish I wouldnt have checked this thread before lunch...made me super hungry. So was
there any abalone there????

There were two (2) booths (only). Both offered canned abalone. One of them had the canned "ABULON" as well as jars, and was kind of expensive @ 250
pesos per can.
The other booth across the way had julienned (canned) abalone. Had some chile prepared sprinkled on them and they offered sliced limes to wet them
down.
But as far as the oysters, mussels, and clams, you could not eat your way through all the booths.
We stopped at about a third of the way. Although the wines were plentiful, and one could make as may trips as one wanted.
