WANTED: ..."DONE DEAL"... Ride From San Diego Airport To RV Park In El Cajon - 8 pm -June 12th
...THIS REQUEST IS COVERED..THANKS TO NOMADS..
.Hello all. We, Co-pilot and I, are flying in to San Diego on June 12th...this coming Tuesday ...and would like to hire any nomad who has
the time and enough car space for two people and a couple smallish suitcases to take us from the airport to a RV park in El Cajon. I left my
motorhome there about a month ago, and we intend to scenic-tour and hug the entire Coast from San Diego to Puget Sound and then over the Great Divide
and home. I love that whole friendly route!
So..we need transportation from airport to El Cajon. I can return your favor with one of my own. Anybody want to make 75 bucks?
Taxi? Sure...but I would rather give the cash to a nomad rather than a stranger in a cab that may or may not be clean. The last SD cab I took
was...brrrr...you don't want to know! Whatever that crap was that got on my shoe soles was still alive when I threw them in the incinerator.
The Googled rate with 15% tip is $75 for the 23 1/2 miles from Lindbergh Field to our RV park in El Cajon which is adjacent to I-8. So, would rather
pay an amigo than a stranger. However...if your car smells of curry, burnt brakes or has moving floor carpets, thanks anyway!
We arrive on a United flight 354 from Denver about 8 pm..Terminal 1
(Hah...the ticket says arrives SD at... 7:59...and I am making a martini bet with Co-Pilot that the tires don't hit the
runway until at least 1 minute 'after' that time.
I've done this kind of passenger pickup a few times, and it's easy to circle..if needed... until you spot your passenger. We'll be standing at the
curbside pickup outside the United arrivals gate. A couple blondes, one with a martini in hand.
Shoot me an U2U or email and we can firm up the event.
Thanks....looking forward to another great Coast Road Trip ..and maybe a fishing charter or three along the way! Mmm...salmon, halibut, oysters,
dungeness crabs!!...quit growling, stomach!

35 miles is 20 minutes??? Maybe between Vizcaino and Guerrero Negro!! Not here amigo, 1/3 of that are surface streets with signals, the rest is busy
freeway.
Nope, it worked out... but his motorhome was NOT by me at Guajome, but even further away in El Cajon (50 miles from here). If nobody in San Diego came
through, I would still do it. Until all that North Dakota Oil gets to market, gasoline is still close to $4/ gallon here!

The "Eagle" has landed safely. We made the quick drive last night from the airport to El Cajon and delivered Roger and his Co-Pilot safely to his
Motorhome at an RV park where it had been stored.
Very nice to meet you Roger and K. See you again sometime...
Haven't had a bad trip yet....

Hey, Roger !! Nice picture of you and co-pilot at the Bali Hai in San Diego. Wish I would have seen your post yesterday. I would have come
and got you guys. The Bali Hai is my local bar hang out place. My condo is about 3 miles from there. I'm in there all the time. I always stop by to
see the gang on my way home from the airport. Next time your in town call me and I'll buy you guys a "special" mai tai....

Curioso.
If so, my current assignment is just up the street. |
It's the RV Park just West of El Cajon Ford, forget the name... But right up against the freeway.

Buenas Dias-Good Morning, BajaWarrior and all.
Chuck, many thanks again, amigo, for the pleasant ride to the RV storage and park. (Vacationers RV in El Cajon just off I-8 in El Cajon) It was very
nice to meet you in person and hear about your Baja experiences. And I owe you a special favor in return for your help in jump-starting the motorhome
engine...(engine & house batts were all dead…because some dufuss went and left a closet light on when he put it in
storage without a battery charger on.)
Mi casa es su casa, amigo...whether Up North or Down South.
Hi soulpatch..the park I left my Southwind at is Vacationers RV Park just off I-8 at Greenfield exit in El Cajon. It’s a very handy park to provision
out of when enroute to Tecate and Baja Sur. I recall staying once at another rv park in that area..Oak Creek or ? I hit an overhanging tree branch
with my fifth wheel roof while pulling into our site, so the memory sticks!
Fire near to us, huh? We spent Tuesday night there but did not see any fires in the neighborhood, but hey...we had a very long day and slept
soundly…so unless your firetruck was pumping water on us, we probably wouldn't have noticed anyway. I hope all went well for all involved with no
injuries.
Hey KASHEYDOG,
I’ll take you up on your offer, but only if I can buy the second round of special mai tais. I am somewhat of an old-timer at Bali Hai, too…I’ve
stayed on Shelter Island so many times since the 70’s, it feels like my home. I agree on the atmosphere at Bali Hai…finest kind and a killer view of
the Bay.
Hola Zac,
Not to worry, you could have joined us for a ‘red one’…like a northern michelada. Next time for sure.
So…to update our Non-Baja Road Trip, we bugged out of the RV park fairly early Wednesday morning and drove north thru the LA madness, up and over the
Grapevine, across the hot flat ag areas..and are now at another RV park in Lost Hills, Ca..called Somerville Almond Tree RV Park…quite a mouthful.
As I drove into this place, I thought it looked familiar?...and sure enough I was in the office computer when we checked in.
(see pics of the almond tree blossoms)

Was a pleasant and uneventful drive from San Diego to here yesterday. The temperature climbed quite a bit though from the low 60’s to somewhere in
the 90’s here. Will be headed to San Francisco and the Golden Gate to drop off a bicycle for a friend there… he had to leave it in San Diego when he
moved to SF. I am sure he will love having it there…the price of gas is crazy, as you know.
After that we stop for lunch at the north end overlook on the Gate and enjoy the views of SF Bay. From there we hug the Pacific Coast road and all
it's great scenery to Cape Flattery, Wa. at the mouth of Puget Sound. There should be a fishing charter or two along the way for some photo ops.….or
something from Japan washed up on the beach?
See you down the road, Pompano

Good morning, Pompano.... How long are you guys going to be at Cape
Flattery? I'll be in the Port Angeles/Sequim area next month. My folks live in Sequim. I love going out to the Cape and Neah Bay. If you're still
around we should hook up....... I'll be staying at the Sequim Bay RV Park at
the John Wayne Marina.

KASHEYDOG, we will dally a bit near the Columbia River entry to look at some old ship wreck places, then north to Cape Flattery, but....I have a date
with some walleyes, big jacks, and huge lakers in Canada for first part of July, so we will quite a ways Northeast of Port Angeles by the time of your
visit. I will see some old fishing buds in NEAH BAY. Hope you enjoy the lavender days of Sequim!
