BAHIA ASUNCION - COMPOST WORKSHOPS
As of today, the wildcoast project heads for Bahia Asuncion.
Day 1 - today - is all about TRASH here in Baja
Day 2 - tomorrow - is about arts and crafts - reuse of materials
Day 3 - Saturday - You get to make all 3 different kids of composts
I really enjoyed the workshops and highly recommend them to everyone...no problem if you miss the first or first and second day - the BEST of the
three is the THIRD DAY !!
super cool project building the composts and so so easy and like I said - we can do it in our backyards and save the planet at the same time.
How cool is that ????
40% of our waste is organic and we create horrible and serious gases by mxiing the organic and inorganic.
I am so glad that I learned this.

mentioning a time would be good : 4 pm
the workshops will be at the elementary school auditorium.
I am sure Shari can provide more information as the workshops begin (I told Sofia (Sofi) to look especially for you, Shari !!
and the group has rented rooms at Ed/Jean's place.
I am hoping mroe people go to the workshops in Asuncion than went to them here .. we were only about 10 people all together .. a mix of men and women,
which was very neat and somewhat unexpected.

And here I am a gardener hobbiest.
BTW, after corn harvest I am going to have a lot of cow friendly foliage.
My lettuces are sprouting and mesclun mix and I am going to have to get some chicken wire to stop the bunnies from having their way with my salad.
One of those long probe digital cooking thermometers works super when it's stuck in s compost pile. Throttle the temperature just right by turning
over the pile or adding water.

go anyways !!!! for sure, go anyways. I think they have limited the group to 20, which is what they did here too, and I asked them to expand the
limit and they reluctantly said yes......in aperfect world, everyone would be able to make arts and crafts the second day, and everyone would be able
to physically help make the composts the 3rd day
BUT WE SURE AS HECK DON'T LIVE IN A PERFECT WORLD
so I say, go for it David and Shari ......

hey that sounds wonderful Udo....we can use it at the camp where there ARE neighbours! Y mil gracias for the insecticide you sent down...all my lovely
roses, flowers, tomatos and greens have been dutifully sprayed...and Juan loved his care package too...you rock!

Udo, I built my compost today and this is one where you can rotate to make it work faster or let it just do it's thing.
but I would be interested to know how much the costco one costs ?

Composters
That one on the link is beautiful.
I have a tumbler-style, too, so that's what I'll be using. Its smaller and not so beautiful but it works well.
I'll probably use the pre-compost blender method Blanca mentioned a lady in Abreojos recommends.
Mine has an additional holding tank below to catch one load so it can "finish" while another is being started above.
It calls for the addition of a bit of peat moss. You can get big bags of it at the agriculture warehouse in Vizcaino, btw.

now that is a really good question - this is being done on a grant that wildcost employee sofia asked for and got. Let me ask her and get back to you
