To my friends re. my email... I was hacked!
First time for everyone, I guess... Several of you I exchange emails with have notified me yesterday and today about a strange email 'from me'...
Well, it wasn't... So, if you have it, send it to junk or Phishing scam folder.
I never send emails without a subject, and this one was just 'Re.' and all there was, was a link to some weight product. One of you even opened the
link, with no ill effects (I hope). Don't.
I also never send an email with multiple addresses exposed, I use the BCc (blind carbon copy) to protect others, but I rarely send out group emails,
anyway. In fact, most of you on Nomad I will use the u2u to communicate.
Sorry for what happened, but I have done what was suggested by Hotmail to fix or prevent it again, and I also have Norton Premium and no virus was
detected. If there is another problem with Hotmail, I do have a gmail email account I will switch to as a primary email.
My niece recently was hacked, and so I know it can happen without any fault of the victim or the friends.
Anyway, hope you all stay well and have a HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY this week!

It happens.... hope you changed your sign-0n code. I hate when this stuff happens. And, you have no control over it. Dang!

Hola, my hotmail was hacked 3 months ago..after many emails to hotmail I got it back..but its in arabic !! which if you have never seen looks like a
bunch of worms laid out on a plate !! still havnt found anyone that reads this strange stuff to swich it back to english !!thankfully the only time I
really use it is when I'm in baja in the winter !!!Its a b-tch I tell ya !! K&T

Probably would be a good idea to never post our e-mails, phone numbers or other contact information publicly. Don't list these things on our profiles
of the various blogs we write on, like Facebook... or Baja Nomad.

Naturally... as I said above, I don't even send out group emails typically, or ever show other email addresses if I do when forwarding something.
I do get them from others who have not taken a minute to delete any other email addresses.
After 14 years on Internet forums, I think this is the first time it has happened to me.

What is really strange to me (I received one of the e-mails in question) was that the "weight loss" product for sale appears to be a reputable
product, at least my research turned up no negatives, and a LOT of positives. The product for sale was "HCS ULTRA". Why would a reputable company
"hack" into other's e-mail accounts is a mystery to me, and really bad PR!
Something very strange here.

David, I know the feeling. On Sunday my Gmail account was almost hacked from an IP address in Japan. I was lucky that Gmail's I.T. department
stopped it. I have now changed my password. I have always been suspicious of "FWD"s...because people are not considerate. People do not use or
understand the difference between "CC - carbon copy and BCC - blind carbon copy".
In years past we would never think of writing a persons home address on a piece of paper then posting that paper on a red light pole that is on a busy
street. But people will send a "FWD" as a "CC". At the end of the day hundreds of people you do not know now have your email address.

After resetting my password the first thing I did was send out a "BCC" email to everyone in my contact list explaining what had happened to me. I
requested for my email address to be deleted from any "FWD"s...all poem, prayers, porn and jokes. I have been surprised at how many of my friends
have sent back positive replies...anyone else that has a problem with my request can delete me from their contact list.

I was recently hacked too. I'll be sending out a new e-mail address to you soon.
They've been using my account to send out e-mails and I get hundreds
of returned e-mail notices from web postmasters.
So sad these A_ _H_ _ _S have to screw thing up for the rest of us users!!

Question...when you say you were "hacked", exactly what do you mean? I thought being hacked was when your account was opened via your password. That
is what happened to me. Someone was trying to log-in to my Gmail account from an IP address in Japan. Thank goodness Gmail's I.T. department blocked
it because it was not normal for my account...according to Gmail.
After rereading some of the post it sounds like some of you opened up an email you had received and that email may have had a virus attached to it
which then attaches to your contact list and it sends out massive emails which looks like they are coming from you.
Just wondering.

I just logged onto my gmail account, which I generally only use to send photos (you will remember I sent you some neat pix recently with that account)
Yep, there it was, so I just trashed it.
You and I also correspond on my aol account, but it did not receive the crapola.

1) I always have a subject in the line and it will usually be Baja related if I am emailing any Nomads. Never a 'Re.' with nothing after, as was the
case with the hack email.
2) I do not leave other's email addresses in a forwarding email. I rarely, if ever, forward jokes or virus warning emails, like I get, with dozens of
other's email addresses showing.
3) I always add some text and never just mail a link to anyone... with no words to personalize why I am doing that.
That is how you know if the email is from me, the real David K!
