Hope they aren't bound for Tehuantepecker Territory (off Oaxaca and Chiapas). I've seen 104F February days with 90 mph offshore winds. All the trees
and vegetation grows at a 45 degree angle. The sea can be merciless.

2.how are the children receiving fresh learning material???
3.If they have to depend on handouts, what happens when the poor people who don't have enough for themselves let alone for an entire family??

glad all are ok(for now). however, i think this whole deal is still very questionable...especially where the kids welfare and safety is concerned.

There is nothing better for kids and family than sailing adventure together. It's definitely the best education for both kids and parents. If you
don't want to help them then don't if you want to help then do, otherwise its none of your business.

They are certainly learning the "Rainbow" way.
I don't think they are getting the best education in sailing or navigation. Sailing and navigation is not something you want to learn "the hard way."
Especially in central Baja during chubasco season.

i get the education and adventure part. but from my perspective, it appears they are putting the kids in harms way. they aslo seem ill prepared which
is the wrong thing to teach your kids. i don't mind helping people but these folks seem like they are just mooching off of anybody, anyplace they can.

Received news today that Lea and the kids are back in the USA safe and sound with Lea's mom, and the kids are back in school.
William is still with the boat in Baja.

That is indeed great news!
Amazing that we stretched this out for 20 pages, isn't it? I guess it's human nature to fill in a factual vacuume with speculation and opinion.
I am impressed with how many folks on here either went, or were willing to go, so far to help someone who needed help, regardless of whether the
predicament they faced was of their own doing or not.
Also, kudos to the fishers of Punta Cono who gave so much from the meager supplies.

Don't know what to conclude. Both sides made reasonable arguments.
Yes, it was dangerous and yes, it was educational. And more important - fun.

Happy with the outcome. I was worried about those kids.
I understand the education value with such an adventure, this one seemed to be a little underprepared. Just my take.

and I am SO glad they are home
We did go to punta abreojos to see how they were doing over a month ago and they were on the boat and it started heading north .. so we never met
them.
sure sounds like home in the US of A was a better place to be under the circumstances
