I don't think it will make much difference, unless, you try to cross after 3 or 4 in the afternoon of a weekday. I have started to call into San Luis
Police and asking them how backed up the traffic is. They are always very nice about giving me a traffic report. If it is bad we continue on I8 to
either Algodones or Mexicali
San Luis Police 928 341 2420
Also, as of late, we have been crossing at Algodones. The good and the bad
Good, You miss paying a toll and you miss a military stop it is a bit less miles
Bad, you have to drive at pretty slow speeds through some of the little towns.
However, I do think it is shorter to get to Hwy 2

I've seen the sign, but not sure where it is located??
Also, I recently watched Dusk to Dawn, and not sure any Mexicano chi chi bars are in my future

I have never gone that way! I've always trudged along Lopez Mateos. It took a quick ride down it on Google Maps....looks like not many stops at all.
Even though it looks to be longer mileage it probably is quicker drive. I will try it out when I head down in December.
Thanks for the route!

East entrance. Sometimes the entering of Mexico is backed up. I love this way to our SF place.
Beyond Mexicali....the road is just fine. The detours are super graded.......nothing that might knock your dentures out of your mouth. Just back from
last week.
Left right on Cazada Abelardo Rogiguiz
Right on Av Republica de Bresil
Left on Manual Gormez Morin
Left on Mex5

To San Felipe and South
Here is a great map showing a cople of ways through town to head south, I use the route that has you going on the right. Less time driving in town

Hope this helps a few people, I get to head back down next week for 2 weeks. Yahoo.
Baja 1000, shrimp tacos, desert rides..
