san felipe - last chance

Ok, it's almost too late but, we believe we are heading to San Felipe on Sunday for 3 or 4 nights. It's your last opportunity to offer to rent us a place to stay for the trip. Of course our other option is simply to camp and with the forecast of 80s daytime, high 60s nighttime with light to moderate winds, that ain't a bad choice.

More seriously, any good ideas on an inexpensive alternate to camping....just in case the weatherman is mistaken?

BajaRentals.com ? This was the site for a home or two available at Rancho/ Laguna Percebu... right across from Shell Island!

Yep, that's it John: http://www.bajarentals.com

I do not know them or heard anything about the homes they rent.

Perhaps Chris ('viabaja' on Nomad) of http://viabaja.com knows more?

There are a couple of nice hotels just before you get into San Felipe proper on the right hand side. I believe they are about 35$ a night. Looks very clean. If you want in town the price will go up a little. Should not be hard to find a room this time of year. Just ask to look at rooms, camping at Pete's Camp is always good, great food and food.

OK tacodogtim - we were planning Pete's Camp - thanks for the ideas. Now we are just waiting for the Jury Duty decision for my wife for Monday - hopefully she'll get excused!

John, I don't have any clue what the price of renting a house is there... Sounds like you just need a motel room if $35 is the budget?

Why not just have fun, camp out on Shell Island and be totally relaxed!

Great pics DK. I know that a shell island map is in here somewhere but I can't find it. How far down is it?

Never mind, I found your site for it...:) I'm guessing that you enter down the Laguna Percibu road?

Trip delayed

Doggone jury duty got in the way, maybe Barb will be excused tonite when she calls in, if not, maybe on Monday - time is short due to other stuff so perhaps the Pina Colada will have to wait until the upcoming Baja 1000.

I am heading down about the 10th. I will be there for 2-1/2 weeks. If you come down later will look for you at Pete's Camp. I have a solar place on El Dorado. Helping a friend who races class 1 car.

Three plus miles past the Percebu road is the direct Shell Island access road... just after the Km. 26 marker.

... and to be serious, the Peņa Colada/Coco Loco 4WD bar photo was taken on the beach at San Felipe...

Nobody goes to Shell Island (it has to do with fear of getting stuck or being alone out there), so no business for the 4WD bar.

I had that figured as a bit of humour....:)

Doesn't look like much of a customer base out there.

That's a great service.......mobile bar. We bought from VW converted guy a four -five years ago......sat right next to Rob's house.....and had no idea that he lived there.

I wonder how many times a week that Rob is chasing that bar.... down the beach for a cool one ?

Now.....someone needs to do a snack truck!

Yep.......that's the man. His culinary skills is legendary! Ask the chef to make some of that grilled shrimp that he whipped out for the McFestival, a few years ago.
