Nice Cab for under $10**Revisited

On a tip from someone who spends a lot more per-bottle than I do, I bought a case of this at Total Wine for Holiday parties and this turned out to be
the favorite. At $9 or so it is at my personal upper limit of daily wine. This cab is soft but almost everyone is surprised by it as we have a lot of
California chauvinism in our group - lot of decent stuff coming from Oregon and Washington these days.
Anyway, if you can find it, pick some up. Think of this as Red Truck but better.
On a side note, the women in our group really seem to like it which resulted in each and every man in our group getting a case the following week.
YMMV.......
1-20-13: Something wierd has happened - the three or four of us that went out and got a case after the raves from the holidays won't touch it. The
white women are back to chardonay or the insipid Pinot Grigio and everyone's looking at 5 or 6 bottles in the cabinet...... what to do?
Last night I made a great receipe for braised beef short ribs; calls for a full bottle of red wine, preferably Cab., that goes into a reduction sauce
and walla, I thought of this. Super fruity, not a tanin in sight with a little bit of sweetness.
Perfect.
So, if as a result of my suggestion you're stuck with a few bottles, this should get me out of the dog house.

I knew EXACTLY what you were talking about.
That's a good Cab. I bought a bottle last time I was at TW. Wish I had bought more. But a little more tannins would suit my palette better.
Radius is one of those wineries that TW will contract with direct, meaning they are just about the only retail outlet for it. They have also done this
with a number of Napa Cabs in the last few years, including Edgewood, Montoya and others I cant remember. They've been able to retail those in the
vicinity of 15.00 which is commendable.
Now that I've moved away from the vicinity of The Wine Exchange in Orange, TW is my go-to source in the US. Great stores. But Wine Exchange is still
the king. On pricing, on sourcing, everything. They cut even more distribution deals with producers than TW. If anyone lives near them, it's the place
to go for spirits.

I was certainly surprised to find that there was a TW within 1 mile of my home in Torrance so I bought two bottles. Decent wine but a bit sweet for a
Cab. Had one bottle with our tri tip roast last night. Gave the second bottle away.

I have to tell you that the Kirkland whites are pretty good, EVEN THE PINOT GRIGIO. The trick to PG is to not serve them too cold or they will never
get above insipid. Right out of the wine captain at around 50-55 is fine.
Really like the Kirkland Sonoma County Chard, too. Both are showing up down here at the Costco in HMO. Both under 10.00 US.
