Choral Pepper book on ebay
I have no financial interest in this item. There is a 2nd edition Vanished Missons book by Choral Pepper currently on ebay. Additionally, there is a
"buy it now" option - $39.00
search under item # 4500607513
This is a very nice book. John M.

$39... the book sold for $1.95 when it was published in 1973...
I have seen even higher bids for this classic. It will turn you on to the lore of finding lost missions or Diaz' grave!

As many of you know, Choral Pepper had completely updated that book before she died. It was at the request of her publisher.
Unfortunately, the new book did not (yet) get published and Choral gave it to me with permission to publish it, post it on the boards or do what ever
I wished with it.
Dr. Jackson helped a great deal in editing it and he also added quit a bit of mission details... enough to even make a second book with perhaps.
I have posted several chapters from the new book here on Nomad... Go to the Historic Interests and Literature forum to read them.

So do you intend to publish it, DK, or what?

DANG!
Which one of you beat me to it!!? It's sold..... Thanks anyway John for the heads up.
I was really wanting that book!
I remember David and Choral talking about it (at her home, which I was honered to be invited to) and her saying that she didn't think that the detail
of the maps that Dr. Jackson was proposing for the book would be of interest to the general readership......well, big mouth that I am....I said "I
love the maps, I think others would also" As soon as it came out of my mouth I thought "shut up Debra" this is an author that knows WAY MORE THAN
YOU. .......her response was "Hum? you might be right, let's just see where this goes, David..it's yours, do what you want" (I have to tell all,
Corke was more interested in watching El Camote's video of the "Amigo's" trip than talking about her books. She also gave me her last book "Fabulous
Lovers, Fabulous Foods, a Cookbook to Read" and much more, her art, her grace....I went into my library to get her book to spell "fabulous" and what
came with? (as I grabbed) "The grinning GARGOYLE, SPILLS THE BEANS" David, Bernie......you might get the irony of that, others might not.......I
KNOW! that they are above and laughing together (and I asked Jimmy to say Hello to my Dad) so I KNOW, they are having a great party and laughing at
our silliness!

Bajalera, I had a publisher... it was through Chuck Potter (Baja Source) who was Jimmy Smith's publisher. Chuck (son-in-law of Mike McMahan) was
retiring from the business and knew a couple who was part of the Grinning Gargoyle publishing. Unfortunately, the project they were going to wrap up
before beginning the Pepper project suddenly ended as the author pulled the plug. It was devistating to the year's work they put in. They retired from
publishing with appolgies to me for dropping the deal.
There have been two other potential publishers... but nothing was cemented... Robert Jackson is trying as well.
Debra, it wasn't maps that Jackson had Choral was commenting on it was his CHARTS and graphs of cattle numbers, population, grain harvested, etc. for
the missions. Just not real exciting stuff for most readers.
Choral's nick name was 'Corke' pronounced 'cork'. The e was added by suggestion of her father to make it look like a feminine name, she told me...
She was a great person indeed! http://choralpepper.com
