Peso Rate (San Felipe May 4, 2013)

FYI, while in San Felipe last weekend I tried out my new Charles Schwab ATM NO Fee card. The rate at the ATM was 12.05 x 1 US. Cambio rates were about 11.30 x 1 US.

Since January changing greenbacks to pesos has lost 7% purchasing power. The Cats are looking into just how much of the loss can be attributed to the US keeping the Treasury presses running 24/7.

Do you recall what the posted rate at the Pemex stations were?

Last month, BajaNomad reported it was cheaper to use dollars to buy gas, than to have exchanged them at the border... Not a lot, but if I recall, the official casa de cambio rate was like 11.90: 1 and the Pemex in San Felipe kept it simple at 12:1.

The second Pemex in town (at the round a bout) gave me a 11.30 x 1 rate.
