Hole in the Rock Trail (time lapse and stills) out of Escalante
Highway 12 in Utah is a scenic wonder. It was the best part of a bike ride across the state a few years ago. When we awoke in Kadachrome State Park,
the weather was starting to turn. Our goal was to do a 56 mile part of the trail of the early Mormon Pioneers. They got 80 covered wagons across this
route. It is called the Hole in the Wall Trail. We were a little concerned about the flash flood danger, but the ranger was encouraging at Escalante.

The weather was changing at Kodachrome campground. The lies around the campfire were still good.
John, our wagonmaster, said that we should do 56 miles of the Hole in the Wall Trail. How could we refuse?
My 96 Dodge is 7000 lbs of Detroit steel. My surfing buddy is a winner at (gocarts, motorcy, and Porche powered 1400 lb single seaters at Fudd's). He
says that I want him to do as I say rather than as I do. This seems unfair.

Our first look at the slot that the pioneers lowered 80 wagons to the canyon 1200 feet below. Oh yeah, thanks for flooding the canyon to make a
shallow Lake Powell.

Beautiful pics and Country. If you have not taken this "rough vehicular trail" to Hole-in-the-wall yet, you might want to give it some serious
consideration. There has long been an effort by certain environmentalists with clout to get that road closed permanently, which would close off a LOT
of incredible country to any vehicular access. I don't think they will succeed, but you never know.
