Anyone can catch fish in a boat but only \"El Pescador Grande\" can get them from the beach.

I hope when my time comes the old man will let me bring my rod and the water will be warm and clear.

Actually, having grown up at the Wedge, it's more about the END of the drop in the shore-break. More than once, I had my face ground into the sand.

Not Woody's cup of tea. He considers Juanico to be too crowded.

My goal was always to try and avoid that. Take the drop, make my cut and hopefully duck out the backside

spent a lot of time as a kid watching people trying to drown themselves at the wedge, I never had the balls. Was always fun to watch though.
Watched my brother nearly drown there once.
My grand parents owned a house off Balboa blvd. and 15th street. I fished off that jetty a lot of times. Used to catch some big Bonito there.

As a gremmie, I remember sitting in high school auditoriums in Ventura, and Santa Barbara with Bruce Brown on the stage showing one of his earlier films and doing all the monologue live. There was usually a segment on the Wedge, and he would make all these wierd sound effects, when guys would go over the falls or get smashed into the sand. Really funny stuff. I also remember that most of the guys were bodysurfing. Before Morey came up with the Boogie. Never had the huevos for it.
