Writing a will in Sept.......who knew?


September is called "mes del testamento" in Mexico because authorities and notaries join their efforts to facilitate the granting of wills for citizens; a 50% discount is given by notaries. If you have assets in Mexico, other than real estate property in Fideicomisos, September will be a good time to get your Mexican will. We did it a couple of years ago and got in on the discount. Not such a bargain because we didn't die yet. Maybe if we had paid retail......

Antonio García Herrera, CEO of the Public Registry of Property and Commerce (RPPC), reminds the public, social, private and the community in general, the importance of the situation in order to avoid difficulties inherited probate in the absence the loved one.

The State Government through the RPPC, in coordination with the College of Notaries of Baja California, provide a program of information and guidance for all those people that do not have this document, and if you made during the month of September will receive special discounts in processing.

Until September 30 will run the State executive decree that exempts people in general by 75% of the rate provided for in the Revenue Act of State for the 2013 fiscal year, by way of deposit of Holographic testament, which is a quality service offered by the RPPC.

García Herrera said the elderly, pensioners, in addition to 75%, with an exemption from payment of fees of 12.5%, which has a 87.5% discount in total.

He added that the decree has a social and human culture and promote probate, serves to support the family economy, and that they would spend in paying the normal rate serves to male and female heads of household to purchase the school uniform or their children, backpacks and shoes.

He said the state official, the notary public, during the months of September and October, they lower their fees to 50% so that those who wish to deposit his will, also do not have excessive costs, representing support for its economy.

Herrera Garcia Ensenada invites the community to participate in this campaign probate being conducted across the country, as all states have adopted the Republic for 12 years the Program "September month of the will".

Its origin, he added, is an agreement between the Ministry of Interior and the National Notary Association, to promote culture as a tool for forecasting probate, to inherit property holders and problems, make the decision themselves and not third parties, for that even after death, the family remain harmonized.

The Paper Chase charges 1200 pesos per will. The notario charges 750 pesos (50% discount).

This does translation, which is required at signing, but does not include a written translation (????).

" (It is required to have an official translator to translate the document for you at the time of signing. This fee does not include a written translation of the final document)"
