Cafés on 94
A recent post about Jacumba and the 94 prompted me to put this post together. I travel 94 regularly for day MC rides, which usually finds me having
lunch or breakfast along the route.
These are my regular stops along 94. Hope this is of use to some of you not so familiar with the area. I am starting off in Jamul and traveling east
to Campo for the list.
I am referencing the locations with mile post marker (MP) information to give you the relative distance from west to east and from the Tecate
junction.
The first is Brody’s Burgers and Beer and is my favorite Beer and Burger joint in East San Diego county. It is at Steele Canyon Rd and 94 in Jamul
behind the 7/11 on the north side of 94. For beer drinkers this is the stop, 22 beers on tap. MP 17.5
Barratt Junction Café will be the next you pass and is also on the north side of 94, and is famous for their fish fry. MP 34.7
For reference the Tecate junction is at MP 39.
The Potrero Grub and Pub (closed last week) at the Potrero General Store is next and is on on the south side of 94. MP 41.7
El Paso Taco Shop in Campo is on the north side of 94 and is a regular stop of mine. There is always a shady spot to cool off and have a drink and
some Mexican food. MP 52.1
Subway/Chevron Gas is also in Campo and is right across from the El Paso Taco Shop.
The last is the Campo Diner on the south side of 94 and is my favorite breakfast stop. MP 52.2

DENNIS,
It doesn't qualify now that they have gone corporate with another location.
Actually there are quite a few good eateries in Rancho San Diego, but I chose to start in Jamul for the list.

How about the Bravo Cafe, across 94 from the 7/11 & bike shop, next to Veggie stand.
Steel Canyon & 94 south side. Breakfast & sandwiches.

You mean, that's not Skittles and Iced tea country?
Probably not. Highway 94 is Redneck Road.

JP,
I hadn't heard that, I made a few calls, and yes, they closed last tuesday.
Too bad!

There are? What places in rsd are good?
You listed eating stops on 94, have tried a few and none had anything but average food. Nothing too interesting. Uninspiring burritos, salad dressing
from bottles bought at Costco,... The decor of some of the places is " quaint east county," but food is not worth stopping for. Suggest packing a
lunch for good eating out campo way.

Most people out that way don't have necks. Or a full set of teeth. Just saying.
