Coco & a welder

Does anyone know for certain whether Coco does or does not have a working welder?

We will be taking some 1 1/2" steel tubing needed to fabricate something to help him with his new prosthesis but it really should be welded.

With the upcoming Baja 1000 surely some pit operations at Coco's will be equipped with a welder and the job is really quite simple and wouldn't take much time at all. We can leave the material with Coco. I was hoping some Nomad who knows some pit teams could put me in contact with them.

We are still trying to make a plan for us to do the job when we are there in ten days or so but we'd have to drill & bolt it.

edited to add: In the event there is no success here on Nomad, I will contact both Baja Pits & Mag 7 directly within the week and try to talk to their pit leader stationed at Coco's - I assume both will have pits there. John

The head of Baja Pits is Carlos and you can contact him at American Wheel in El Cajon... Great guy, met him through The Squarecircle and worked for Baja Pits twice in 2006 (500 & 1000).

An Alternative is to use batteries.

That'll ruin your day. One of my co-workers was jumping a car with a dead battery in the parking lot and the battery blew up and sprayed him with acid, face clothes everything. He worn glasses and that probably shielded his eyes. Anyway we hosed him with water real good and took him to the hospital. It all turned out OK but was a scare.

I've never done the battery weld but seen it done.
