Beach Bob - need help

Not really sure how to go about this but here goes.

This is info from Cameo & Kate:

Kate has been named next of kin since no relatives were located. Bob's body is at UCSD Hillcrest and requires around $800 to do the cremation. They will hold his body for 4 months and then cremate/dispose without notice.

Bob's wish was to be cremated and ashes to be spread at Bahia de Los Angeles.

Anyway, what I need is someone to set up a way to raise the needed $$ to make this happen - I don't do Paypal any longer so I'm useless - I will donate though.

For more info, Cameo said to post his phone number but I don't think that's wise - I will send it via U2U however.

I found out this morning that Bob was only in the military for a short time - less than 6 months so he doesn't qualify for VA benefits.

Heck, I was in the Army for 3 years with one year in Vietnam and I don't qualify...

I'm in. I didn't know Bob (and sold my place in Baja) but I can't imagine a better place to have one's ashes spread.

No, not at all - honorably discharged in 1973. Maybe I'm missing something?

I believe you're wrong about this. I don't know who told you this, but talk with someone a bit higher on the food-chain........and don't take no for an answer. The VA responds to the squeaky wheel.

Thanks for the VA benefits info - looks like I'm entitled to some goodies!

Now back to the task at hand - Someone please setup a Paypal account so we can get Bob cremated!

Not necessarily so, but more info is necessary. Does anyone have his 214? if not, his SS# will ID him with the VA.

Wish I was up there to shake the bushes, but I'm not.

Dennis, Bob was originally taken to the VA Hospital and they could find nothing in their records on him. I'm not sure of his condition at that time but I'm guessing he was coherent and most likely his SSN was looked into.

Cameo & Kate do not do internet so I volunteered to help out - I have only limited info so that's why Cameo told me to give his cell out. If someone wants to reach him I will send his # via U2U.

Thanks, Steve. The VA has a way with denial, so I'm not convinced.
Anyway...my hands are tied.
