Now that those 2 days of winter passed through, we are back to sunny skies and the temp is climbing steadily...65 in the shade and 75 in the sun so far...gonna be a fantastic day to celebrate the solstice!

Baja? Cold?

Each winter when I get chilly in Baja, it always reminds me of fishing out of a resort near Guaymas in 1974. 'Hotel Playa de Cortez' I think it was.

It was a bit too cold & windy to go fishing, so I was sitting in a comfy chair in front of the bar fireplace, further warming myself with a hot brandy.

On the table next to me was a pile of notes & fishing reports from fishermen that spanned 30 years and more. Great bits of history and triumphs on the water. I read through several..enjoying the reports like these, 'Aug, 1947, caught 2 marlin, 4 sailfish, wonderful day on the water',... 'broke off the biggest fish I've ever seen!'...'4 roosterfish on 18lb test'..'Jorge is the best skipper,'...etc, etc..

Then I picked one that read, " Snow getting deeper, wolves drawing closer...fear navigator drinks."

I grinned and could only imagine how cold that fisherman thought it was...probably from Needles or Pheonix? ;)

I do what the voices in my tackle box tell me.
