The Big Black Baja Great Dane

Climbs under the covers into the edge of the bed alongside me.

She is trembling and her legs are twitching; suffering from night terrors.

I pat her and tell her that she is safe.

Eventually, she quiets down and heads down towards the deep sleep tunnel.

And I follow behind her.

The dry dog food I buy from the local granero, Diamond Dog Food (made by a U.S. company in Chino,CA) is about $15 U.S. for a forty pound sack.

We also have a deal with a local butcher who saves us trims so I can make dog soup to boost the protein content of the dry food. $25 pesos for five kilos of meat.

My husband tells other people in a joking manner, "She cooks more for the dogs than for me."
