Those orcas that are transient are very aggressive. Local pots don't feed on seals but go for salmon and other fish. Nothing new about that. I used to skipper orca tours in the San Juan and Gulf Islands in the early days. One or two boats out there in stead of the hordes that are following them now.

and so, there is always a better spot in Baja

On the way to the Puget Sound now...in a very roundabout way. Been spring-summer sailing there with San Juan & Baja amigos for awhile and have always seen plenty of killer whales.

Co-pilot definitely doesn't like seeing them anymore after seeing them at feeding time. I keep telling her that it's Nature doing it's thing...nothing malicious about it, but she's still peeed at them for eating seals and sea lions, especially the young ones. The Orca packs are very efficient in their hunting style. They are aggressive in the extreme when it comes to attacking other mammals and maybe not pleasant to watch for certain folks. I sympathize with her and warn her to turn her head at times, and try to think of it as humans going to the market.

Of course, that makes me wonder if she put this note into the newspaper. (Forgive me, for I know not what I do..)

I do what the voices in my tackle box tell me.
