Ensenada - Cell Phone Forwarding

So I located a place to stay in Punta Banda and am finalizing the move on June 1st (long term). For work I need to keep my US based phone number and am trying to figure out the best way to make this work. I get very limited phone calls on it (maybe 30 minutes a month that are related to work) but utilize the data feature of it a lot (allows me to unshackle myself from the computer and go outside during slow periods) to get emails on the go.

Some of the options I'm considering are:

1) Keeping a cell phone plugged in at the main office in the US and having call forwarding to an Ensenada based cell phone with a data plan (if I read everything correctly it is cheaper to call into the Mexico via Tmobiles plan vs roaming in mexico).

2) Porting the original US base cell phone to Google Voices or Skype (not sure if Skype does this) and just accepting I won't be able to get business phone calls on the go. Then having an Ensenada based cell phone for emails and emergencies (it's not a problem to have the main office / boss call directly to the Mexican number).

With so many services/apps I'm just curious if anyone knows of another service that might handle this or if someone on here has done a similar situation before and what you did to work around it?

Thanks in advance.

The easiest answer is what I did myself:

Keep your US phone number, and port it to a Magic Jack (Transfer it).
Then buy an inexpensive Mexico based phone ($300 Pesos). Have your Magic Jack calls to the Mexican phone.

I think Magic Jack is the way many who live in Baja have a U.S. phone number. It uses the Internet and works fine.

Check out MagicJack Plus.

We have used it for a couple years in the US and Baja and it works great
