Volunteers and Emergency response

Sad to hear about these fires.

When I was in San Ignacio late March, they had an organization with volunteers hiking near the campground where I was staying, looking for locations to place pumps and run hose to fight fires west of the oasis.

Unfortunately it sounds like they didn't get the system installed in time for these fires.

(I was staying at the Los Petates campground.)

Notice from Edith Viavicencio, Municipio de Mulege Representative, 8:30 pm tonight to the people of San Ignacio:
"Comunidad de San Ignacio, ya van mas ayuda, por favor hacer caso a las autoridades, municipales y estatales. Se cortará la corriente para seguridad de los habitantes."

Community of San Ignacio, now comes more help, please cooperate with the authorities, county and state. The electricity has been cut for the security of the town. (my translation)

Edited to add that town evacuation has been ordered.

It appears that this video is of the Mulege fire. It may have been taken from the lookout behind the Mulege mission above the river.
