Airborne Magnetometer Solutions
The worldwide application of airborne magnetic and gradiometric data is growing, driven by demand for high-resolution, low cost data to:
Map targets, geology and geologic structure in Mineral Exploration
Perform frontier evaluation, augment seismic data in Hydrocarbon Exploration
Detect Unexploded Ordnance (UXO)
Map pipelines and other cultural objects in Environmental and Engineering investigations
Map aquifers and faults in Groundwater work
From the website of a company that sells the technology. If, in fact, that is a magnetometer in the picture.

The Navy's been using a similar device for detecting submarines for decades, called an ASQ-81 MAD (Magnetic Anomaly Detection) System. They are
mounted on the P-3 and S-3 fixed winged aircraft as well as the SH-3 Helos, which more closely resemble the one in the photo. It was the first system
I worked on at the start of my Navy career back in '76. I kind of liked being called a Mad tech.
There most certainly is but one side to every story: the TRUTH. Variations of it are nothing but lies.

U.F.O. south of San Felipe
I once had an Unidentified Following Object behind me heading north out of San Felipe. Turned out it was only a Federal Police car.
