Copa mundial!

Just remembered I was in la Paz for the 1994 World Cup. Lots of fun and excitement in the bars along the malecon.

And now it looks like I will be in Baja sur for the 2014 festivities.

I guess I know what will be on the TVs in the bars as I travel south!

And In honor of opening day of Copa mundial...
Gooooooooooooooooaaaaaaallllll!

ALL games are televised on either ESPN, ESPN2 or ABC.
And for those with Canadian Shaw direct, all games are on CBC and Sportsnet.

Try not to be there when Mexico plays the US...and loses. That happened to me once and I snuck out the back door.

Futbol way better that watching a bunch of 7 foot freaks run up and down a court, stuffing a ball in a hoop that should be 10 ft higher.:P:spingrin:

I was on a 6 day fishing charter out of San Felipe on Tony Reyes's boat when the USA eliminated Mexico from the World Cup... I had bets with half the crew..... I was wondering if i was going to get off that boat alive

Mexico leading 1-0

This game much more enjoyable than Brazil-Croatia, which wasn't very good, no matter what the hoopla over Neymar. Should have ended in a tie.

Mexico beat Cameroon. Our Mexican crew here in Oregon just went nuts!

If the hoop was ten feet higher, the freaks would be ten feet taller, what with genetic engineering. :light:

what if they left it the same height but made the hoop slightly smaller than the ball?

Spain versus The Netherlands
Latter beat the pi** out of them in revenge of the 2010 defeat.

Thanks... I thought I heard "Espaņa" but they were shouting as if it was Mexico. So the boys with wooden shoes and their finger in a dike beat Spain?

Very fun, very loud...

And mucho feliz in Caballeros cantina in Cabo Pulmo!

the crowd shots were very funny- loved Frida Kahlo and her hat/serape/unibrow.

Fun afternoon w/the locals, and dogs, and kids....fun for all ages/species!

I was working in San Francisco in '94. I really didn't know anything about soccer. I only remember that there were a lot of CRAZY Brazilans in town and boy could they party!

Now, I'm in La Paz watching the Copa. I dont know much more about soccer than I did then, but it's been really fun watching Mexico advance and being here to share the fun.
