Twas a fun time

we again solved many of the world's pressing problems, fixed the potholes in Baja Hwy 1, and drained several ice cold Pacificos in the process....but what do I know....

Next time, be there or be Sq'd, all you prospective 'Chat'ers out there!

Chat

I sense chat is the same concept as IM'ing, but I really don't know. So many times I have wanted to join in with you-all but I've used the IM (instant messaging) feature of whatever and I'm only a burdon because I can't think on me feet and, mostly, I can't type except hunt and peck.

How does it work?

The chat is fun since I don't get to talk to many in "real" time often.....I can't imagine what it must be like for the 'hunt & peck' crowd, I type and I have a hard time keeping up, especially when several are in the room at once. Last night was a perfect example.....I was confused about something I was reading and had to re-read several times, things were moving so fast I just got more confused! At one point Mexray said "I think we lost Debra"......(well, ya did, but not totally.....HA!!!!)

That old chat room started was called GoBaja on Talk City... was lots of fun and a great way to get to know each other better.

Tim Walker (TimsBaja.com) and I wanted to meet, and we decided to bring some other Baja and Internet people together... That was in early 2000 on the San Clemente Pier. I brought author Graham Mackintosh, and Wild Bill was invited and he brought David Eidell. Mike and Mary Ann Humfreville, Michelle (M), Whistler, Ferna de Tijuana (fdt), Lorenzo de Baja (LdB), elgatoloco and BajaBarb were some of the Amigos (now Nomads) who came. Book author Greg Niemann (Baja Fever) was there. Others that Tim knew who came were web host and BajaLinks.com's Dick Van Bree, Baja Expo's Carlos Fiesta, Baja-Web's Jens (El Aleman), along with others...

The gathering went so well that I was asked to do it again, regularly! That was how my Viva Baja parties came about and later, M's BBBB parties too!

There were four of each party so far (photos of all on my web site, except BBBB-3).

In 2004, both Michelle and I took a break from hosting any parties. But, I had a great group campout with side trips in February (Matomi Gang II). Then, Antonio had the Baja Cactus Fiesta in August, which was a wonderful event that over 70 people attended.

I am sure more events will be in the future for all of you new and old Nomads to meet each other and make new friends. The next Baja Cactus Cultural Fiesta will be in July... in El Rosario... be ready!
