10 years ago... we met 'BajaCactus' and JESSE at J.R.'s
Antonio Sr. and his son, Antonio, who is 'Baja Cactus'
Doug (Baja Nomad), Bernie, and Antonio Sr.
Antonio Sr. was a math teacher who spent time in various Baja schools including La Bocana (near Punta Abreojos).
A history professor friend Miguel, is next to him.
Antonio Jr. listens in, as does Bernie.
Doug and Jesse... Meeting the people we have been reading is really a special treat.
Jesse is from Tijuana, but his family comes from Santo Domingo (south of La Purisima)
in Southern Baja California. Doug's forums are at http://forums.bajanomad.com/
David, Bernie, and Antonio talking about Baja...
JR joins us at the 'yummie table'
Jesse shakes hands with Bernie as Doug looks on.
Bernie has authored two Baja books. See http://www.caballeropublishing.com/
A few more photos from this meeting/ bbq at: http://www.vivabaja.com/bajacactus/
In the 10 years since... Bernie and JR are no longer with us, and JESSE moved to La Paz and opened Tres Virgenes restaurant.

Very much miss my friend and neighbor JR. I had a house in La Barca for many years and we did a lot of talking and maybe a little drinking lol.
I missed this meetup by a week. Too bad, I would have liked to meet Bernie and the rest of you. I did read one of Bernie's books. Good stuff
JR really loved stiring the pot on the forums. Right until the end.
Saludos!

I'll never forget the day I met JR. He shook my hand and handed me a cold beer!
The SAME boiling water that softens the potato hardens the egg. It's about what you are made of NOT the circumstance.

Bob, I think hundreds of others could say the same :-)
I can't find anyone to sit around and BS with that compares to the hours of banter that we enjoyed.
He definitely made it on my short list of top humans that I've known.
