Cheese Cave Trip update (Ensenada area)

This is a must do, especially if you are tired of doing the wine country over and over when guests come down. The place is pretty darn nice. Absolutely plan on eating there as the food is really good and really nice surroundings. What I really liked was the prices. Some of our favorite places in Guadalupe Valley have gotten so pricey this was a nice reprieve. They charge $10 for the tour which you can read about in the link below and it includes a wine and cheese tasting. Very worthwhile

We Decided to make a go of our outing even when we were not able to reach anyone by phone and their website was down. Started feeling pretty confident when we kept seeing signs for Queso/Vivo Ruta. Real easy to find as lots of signage and the 2 km dirt road was in excellent condition
We drove out in VW Sportwagon with very low clearance and didn't have any issues or concerns so they must have greatly improved this from previous years.

The place was busy, I imagine we saw about 40 people while we were there. Well organized. If you are going with a large group I would certainly want to arrange the visit ahead of time otherwise there hours of operation is 1-6 Thursday through Sunday. They will arrange private tours and Cruise Ship tours other days.

directions (these are the ones we followed with no problems)
it is located well off Highway 3 heading towards San Felipe. If you are heading east-bound, you will pass the Ojos Negros Pemex station on your right, and the Ojos Negros turn-off on your left. You will continue several miles down the highway. On your left, you will see a steel warehouse structure and several small signs that are posted on the fence. One of those signs that says ‘Cave de Quesos’ will point you down a paved road. From that point, continue approximately 7 kilometers (the road will become a dirt road), following the ‘Cave de Quesos’ signs. Eventually, you will come to Rancho La Campana, an oasis of tall green trees, black and white cows, and rolling fields.

Go you will be happy that you did! It took us about 2 hrs each way from Northern Rosarito area. Plan on being there for several hours. Wish we had more time there.
