campo renee

has anyone ever been down to Campo Renee or has anyone ever fished that estero coyote? i am thinking about doing a little exploring down in that neck of the peninsula. what are the roads like to that region? will i need serious off-road capabilities or will i be alright in a Subaru Outback? Thanks for any and all helpful info. Cheers!

Oh, I have lots of photos from Campo Rene--- all on the other computer. :-) But I also think at times it is best for someone to "discover" something without all the minute information and photos.

Subaru Outback will do just fine! It is such a beautiful place! Go and have FUN

Some of us like to discover places with out the maps and photo's, so we don't post them.

GO!!! You will have a great time that area is car friendly and the fishing is good to great. If you have a kayak or such take it, a float tube would be fun too. The shore fishing between Rene and town is good at times. Go Explore.

I'm sure the map guy will be along shortly.

If you would like more info u2u me, I love that area.

We went there last year. Kayaks are a must and the fishing was great. Go into the lagoon at low tide and try fishing the large tidal pools. You will be shocked how many and how big the fish are in there. Water was murky so I was using a crocodile spoon on light tackle. It was a blast! Watch out for the pelicans taking your fish from right behind you. If you have some $20 used bikes, bring them. Beach biking there is great. When I go there next year I will probably stay on the beach near the lagoon inlet. I like things a little more private. The family that runs the restraint there are very good people. You can sit on the deck and knock back tecate watching the sunset. Sunday is Mexican family day, so don,t freak out when they show up with loud mariachi music and tons of beer. Best to join in. People seem to whine about the bugs there but I am from Canada so they were pretty tame compared to what we call bugs.

You will love that place.

So, the two of you speak for everyone? People actually come to Baja Nomad to not see Baja places, really? LOL

If anybody would like to see photos of the place, there are plenty already posted on Nomad. I have a few showing the set up and beautiful Estero El Coyote there from 2007. Just let me know if you want to see those or if you need help finding other photos of Campo Rene.

I can tell you one thing for sure, no matter how many photos I see of a place, it NEVER replaces or takes away from going there in person. There are also many people who will no go there for whatever reason, but they still come here to have a visual taste of what is in Baja. That often inspires people to take the plunge and come on down. That HELPS the people of Baja. Keeping places secret or unseen only serves the individual.

If you want to see pictures, pls rely on something more recent than 2007. Don't know what DK is talking about since you can get a taste of the place from its web site.

Here is a pic of Campo Rene - it is even more gorgeous than this wonderful photo shows!

Easy access, sometime quite full during summer when folks who actually live in Baja go there to escape the intense muggy heat of other towns on the Sea of Cortez side.

Have a great trip and stop by LA BOCANA to meet us! I am the local middle school and high school English teacher so ask for BLANCA la maestra and any kid/adult will direct you. We are less than an hour away....to get here you drive onto Punta Abreojos - take a street called MIGUEL DOMINGUEZ all the way across the salt flats/estero to LA BOCANA.

Remember that there have been high tides, so bear right away from the waters of the lagoon (estero).

Welcome to the fun, Tyler! and if you are coming before Oct. 31 Pretty please bring me Halloween candy to distribute and I will happily reimburse.

Come visit La Bocana
