Passing of a surfing icon

It is with a heavy heart that Mike Tabeling has passed on. He was living with his wife at K38 for the last few years fighting the good fight and was as good a guy as they come to anyone who knew him and his wife. The good die all too soon and Mike was one. Condolences to his wife and son and all who knew him who have lost a dear and treasured friend. I spent a day with him and Nancy last winter with a couple of friends and was hoping for some daylight with a miracle cure that could have made a difference but it was not to be. He and Nancy were as generous as they come with that old southern hospitality and we all should hope we could pass on with the same courage they showed at the end. We all have lost with his passing. I don't do facebook but there is more there and also on the East Coast surfing hall of fame where he has a long history. It is a sad day for anyone who was fortunate to have met him even if only for a day.
