Do You Green Flash?

Although I was unfamiliar with the phenomena until moving to our camp near Rosarito a couple summers ago, most evenings near sunset, friends collect along the ridge and wait for the show. Lasting no more than a second or two, conversations may last much longer.

With no way to record the occurrences, I borrowed the above image from Google.

This evening, last of the year, was a good one. Reminds me to wish all on the board a happy, healthy and prosperous new Year.

On clear mornings we will watch the sun rise with binoculars and will see a momentary green flash just as the sun clears the horizon and it is just a flash, no longer.

We love Green Flash. The liquid and the optical. All the years spent near the ocean has afforded many opportunities to witness the phenomenon and it never gets old. This time of year we can see the sunset from our upstairs master when conditions are favorable. Today is shaping up to be a good candidate. Sunset is at 4:55. Get ye to da beach!
