Surf And Fun At Manzanillo Bay
Last fall we took a trip to the area north of Zihuatanejo known as Manzanillo Bay for our 5th wedding anniversary. We stayed in a small but really fun
hotel called The Inn at Manzanillo Bay which is right on Troncones beach with a nice pointbreak. The staff was great and the food was really good, but a bit
overpriced. We didn't care as the view and hospitality more than made up for it. The surf looked deceptively small from the beach, and my first paddle
out I was surprised that the sets were well overhead. There was only one day where the pointbreak was really on and wrapping into the bay, but the
rest of the time there were some big drops and some fun shoulders to play with. One perk of surfing here is that the manager's husband William will
shoot surf photos from the beach for free and you can also hire him to do a trip to other surf spots and shoot photos. We wanted to go back again last
month but it was totally booked up!

Just north of the hotel is Majaua where you can get a great lobster feast
Bugs, shrimp, and veggies with a side of beans and tortillas. Life is good!
Can't wait to get back someday....

stayed at Las Hadas in 86 or so. drove to Pascuales for a surf and also found BdeNavidad, Techuan and a couple other spots.

Thanks for the photos! I'll never forget hunkering down in a shack motel during a gnarly rainstorm/thunderstorm in Zihuat. Same trip I broke my
board at Puerto. You got some nice surf shots in there too..........looked like a fun drop.

Nice soulpatch! Do you get out to the coast often? I love San Miguel but haven't been back since my first visit in the late 90's. I connected with
William before the trip via his Troncones Facebook page and have followed it since. It's a special spot for sure.

Ateo...yeah it was a fun, steep and fast drop! So much so, several times I completely pancaked in the flats trying to go into a bottom turn with so
much speed and got blasted. When you did come out of a bottom turn the wave kinda fizzled out though since the swell direction wasn't quite right. The
one day it was on and wrapping into the bay was amazing...definitely one of the best (and scariest) days of surf in my life. William was away with
clients so no pics from that day!

Pascuales, surfed it in '89...pulled into a barrel on my first wave, just standing there thinking wow, this wave is awesome, in a fast second down
comes the Pascuales hammer, next thing I know my trunks are around my ankles

Different Manzanillo Woody
The resort called Manzanillo Bay is just north of Zihuatenejo (sp?) far south of the port city of Manzanillo. I have been visiting Manzanillo since
my parents took me there as a boy in 1957. I would talk more about Las Hadas and Barra de Navidad in the 60s, but that would be a bit of a hijack.
If you are not living on the edge, you are taking up too much space!
