PESO TODAY

WOW....15.48 to one.
Just tried to use a couple of different ATMs at Calimax and both were down Unusual. I wonder if it has anything to do with the shaky Peso?

If/when the Fed raises the interest rates, Oil and every other commodity will drop like a rock and the USDollar will get even stronger. Without wage pressure in the US, we'll be OK to make or import whatever we need/want but we won't sell anything outside our country. I remember stagflation but wonder what it is without the inflation.....just stag?

This is bad for exports. It'll price the products out of range for consumers. Look for your local Costco in Mexico to turn into a ghost town.

The Mexican government will do something to bring it down a bit. Also, there are substantial principal exports that are not going to diminish with the strength of the US dollar such as weapons and technologies and pharma that have what is called inelastic demand and do not waiver much with price changes to our foreign buyers of those US products.

Exports over all will not suffer as much as one would classically thing, especially in the short term.

Jeeezo, Chuckie..."kid with a baseball hat?" In Mexico, that could be almost anybody. Does he have any distinguishing characteristics to set him apart...like a mustache, black hair, or something like that?
Anyway...thanks for thinkin' of me.

I just bought a beautiful brand new Samsung refrigerator for 5600 pesos at Elektra in Rosarito which evens out to about $370 USD and no tax added. Time to replace my old washer while the peso is on a roll!!

Probably up. Euros being printed like Green Stamps, for the foreseeable future, should tend to support the value of the dollar.

Green Stamps?

You do realize that on most forums you would have to explain what a green stamp was. Must be a lot of us old farts on this board!

That is funny. I do remember green stamps, and blue stamps, with toasters and appliances as "the prize". Late 50's early 60's?

So, at 15.5 now, what is the crystal ball? 16+ by end of month? Or just hold around 15+?

There were Green Stamp and Blue Chip stamp stores into the 70's here in So Cal.

Has anyone else recognized the popularity of the Green Stamp and Blue Chip stamp use rise and the 'Glue' substance often consumed while adhering the same...

correlating with the same era's increase in pupil dilated travelers running over dusty unpaved roads south of the border?

Ever looked real close at those photos of DK standing next to his Subaru?
